Introducing duvet to toddler

I've always used sleep bags for my now 17month old DS which have been fantastic, just had a check of his various ones and he's due for the next size.
I'm wondering if it's worth introducing a toddler duvet instead as it's not just one sleep bag -I like to have varying togs depending on our awesome British weather! And they're not cheap!
But my DS is a wriggle bum at night and I'd worry that he'd wake frequently having kicked the duvet off or have tangled himself up in it. He sleeps in a cot bed.

What's the normal age for introducing a duvet and what have others experienced when doing it? Thanks!

We didn't introduce a duvet until pasted aged 3 and moved from cot into a bed.

Size 18-36 month sleeping bags are amazing in my view. Certainly worth the cost, easily.

We manage with two 2.5 tog bags and in summer I might by a 1 tog bag in addition. They'll last through to next summer, remember.

Sleeping bags have the added advantage of making it more difficult to climb out the cot.

Our 2yo is still in a sleeping bag and I intend to keep it that way until we move her into a bed.

No plans to move ds (21 months) out of sleeping bags but keen to hear when others have done it. Although what we'd save on sleeping bags we'd probably spend on pyjamas so I don't think there's any saving in it for us.

You can buy toddler duvets cheaply from Amazon. You only need very low togs (my 2. 5yo has a 4 tog all through winter) as there is still an overheating risk.
Check your sizing before you buy as there are a few variations on 'cot bed' sizing, eg 150 or 130cm long. There doesn't seem to be a standard size that all sellers use.
If you have a wriggler you can turn it 90 degrees and tuck it under so it doesn't fall off as easily. My DS stays under his though as he loves the picture on the cover.

If you don't want to get a duvet then look at babasacs - they have a removeabke lining so you can change the tog of the sleeping bag. Game changer!!

We switched to a duvet when we moved DS into a bed. Started with a single duvet turned sideways so that it reached the floor on both sides, this meant no matter how much he shifted it didn't fall off. He's now in a full size single with a double duvet, again to stop it falling off him. I would say start in the late spring early summer then if he does wiggle out he won't get cold.

Thanks for all the replies, pretty much sways me to stay with the sleep bag for a little longer but good to know Amazon do some and for the lower tog rating [than our own duvets].

StylishDuck -Oh god, you know my MIL even warned me that my DH was up and out of his cot a lot younger than our DS so maybe I ought to stick to the bags on that aspect alone!
Still interesting to know when others introduced them.

Imo it is a good move to move to duvet syringe the summer when being cold is less likely to happen if they kick them off.

I might move my 17mo this summer. Duvets easier imo. He won't be out the cot for a bit mind.

Ikea do nice quality low tog duvets also, got my 2.5 yr old a 4 tog when he moved into a big bed and he stays cool enough on warm nights and I put an extra blanket on if it's really chilly. He is really tall though so struggled to find a sleeping bag that he would fit in

We gave DD2 a duvet at about 18 months. Absolutely fine, no issues at all. She wriggles a lot but our house isn't particularly cold so she doesn't seem to mind being out of the duvet (it doesn't wake her up anyway).
We put DD1 in a bed with a pillow and duvet just before she was 2, I think she shouted a couple of times to be tucked back in.

I'm considering doing this at the minute. My ds is just turned 2. He sleeps in a 1 tog bag with a blanket as he likes a wee blanket so I think he would like a duvet, but he is such a wriggly sleeper he usually ends up at the other end of the cot and is also a really light sleeper so he would wake if you tried moving him and I'd be afraid of him getting cold.

DD1 was 3.2 when I introduced a duvet. Her sister was 2.2 because she was keen to have one too from seeing her sisters but I do have to tuck her back in a bit when she gets cold. She still has a daytime in a bag. Keep in bags I'd say.

Our daughter is 2.8 and still in her sleeping bag. She loves going in it. I would guess she will be running out of space around 3 so we will move to a duvet then. She still roams around the cot at night so I don't think a duvet would stay on for long.

My son is 2.4 and doesn't want his duvet as he loves his sleeping bags! He has a habit of fiddling with the poppers though, I think he finds it soothing. Might try again with duvet but not really in a rush.

Literally just tried duvet for the first time for today's afternoon nap. He is just two. Has been in a bed for a couple of months but was using sleeping bag. Have a new baby so wanted to try duvet so he can get in and out of bed more independently if I have my hands full!
He slept ok, but will see what happens tonight..
