Hi, Im a long time reader of mumsnet but this is my first post... I'm hoping someone of you lovely contributors might be able to give me some advice! Sorry if it's long...

My lovely 6mo DD used to sleep well (bed time 7:30ish, one night feed up for the day 5:30-6) but things have deteriorated!

Now it is bedtime 7-7:30 still, but up anywhere between 2 and 6 times in the night, not always hungry but needing settling.
Daytime naps are okay, normally has 3 a day (30min am and pm and usually longer at lunchtime). She has her naps in a bouncy chair with white noise on.

Self-settling at night seems to be the problem, we are really trying to settle her in her cot rather than rock her to sleep and put her down asleep but she finds this hard. I don't want to leave her to cry but it seems to be endless pick up cuddle put down, happy kicking, not looking tired etc. (Even though she was eye rubbing and yawning before bedtime).

She is FF and we have started weaning, but I don't think she is eating enough yet to make a difference.

I suppose my questions are: any advice re: self settling? Do I need to persevere with trying to sleep train her (gently) or will she grow out of this herself? Any other ideas that might help?

Struggling to see how this is going to improve at the minute...and despite DH doing his share of the night times we are getting progressively more tired!

Any advice/replies would be greatly appreciated!

I think she's having too long awake time in the daytime. I would suggest light sleeping and difficulty settling at night is to do with being over tired.

Could you try putting baby down for a nap after about 90 minutes awake throughout the day? It means naps become more frequent, more of them per day.

I'm having real sleep issues with my 6mo son too.
I haven't had a chunk of sleep longer than two hours for well over 3 weeks and I am at a loss and exhausted.
I have no advice other than we have to believe it will pass!! X

My little ones sleep went completely to pot at six months. I started to cosleep it was a complete game changer.

I suspect this might not be the answer that you are looking for.

I could have written this post myself! My girl has just cut her first tooth but is still waking every 30 mins. She used to sleep 6 hours bottle then another 6. We tried co sleeping for a couple of nights which settled her but neither of us going any sleep (I have back issues)
