Brushing teeth after milk

Hi all,

My son is nearly 14 months and we have replaced his evening bottle with a cup (sippy cup) of milk. He has stories, nappy, sleep suit, milk and into bed drowsy but not asleep. He then goes to sleep and has been sleeping through (touch wood this continues)

I know I'm meant to brush his teeth after the milk but I really think this would just wake him up. At the moment he screams when I take the toothbrush off him in the morning... and he finds brushing his teeth very funny!

What does everyone else do?

Thanks.

Give warm water instead. Or more specifically I watered down the milk from age 12 months. It took about 3/4 months I guess until it was just 100% warm water. They didn't even notice.

Give the milk downstairs, before going up to bed.

Then i would do:

Upstairs
Into bathroom - bath or wash hands/face and brush teeth
Into bedroom
Stripped and new nappy
Sleepsuit on
Into sleeping bag
Stories
Into cot

Awake to asleep in the cot, with dummy.

Thanks both. I guess I'm just worried about upsetting our current routine as it's working well at the moment (madly touching wood again!)
