Baby not sleeping in moses basket

Please help!! My 4 week old absolutely refuses to sleep in her moses basket.
She will happily fall asleep on my chest but the second I put her down in the basket (no matter how gently!) she is wide awake, crying and will not be soothed back to sleep. I've tried putting her in there drowsy, different blankets, sleep aids, my t-shirt in there etc and nothing seems to work :(
My husband and I are exhausted as he spends the first half of the night sitting with her on his chest and trying to get her to settle in the basket, then by about 2am he's exhausted so I wake up and have her co-sleep with me (except I dont sleep as I'm too scared something will happen to her!)
I feel like I'm in losing my mind from lack of sleep and dont know what else to do. Everyone says to sleep when she sleeps but I cant when husbands at work all day and she will only sleep on me?!?!
Help!!

Will she sleep next to you in the daytime? You need to find it inside you to not be scared something will happen to her if you co-sleep, so that you get some sleep too. My son would sleep 2 places, in his pram (enclosed space), or in bed with me. Occasionally nap in bed alone, but not often.

None of the babies I know slept in a Moses basket (including mine.) Sleepyhead or cocoonababy might help...

None of mine slept in the Moses basket or cot. They love it now though - it's been a boat and a rocket today Grin

Um, cosleeping was what I do - looks at 6 month old beside me now while DH chivvies the others- . Check out safe bedsharing.

I found it got easier when we (baby and me - taken a few weeks each time for baby to learn) learned how to feed lying down. Baby feeds to sleep - you either fall asleep safely and instinctively curled round baby, or you can slink away and have a shower or something. Smile

Sleepyhead works a treat for my 5 week old.

Most newborns aren't overly keen on cots- google fourth trimester. They need to be next to you so the easiest way is to co-sleep safely. Are you BF? That's one of the biggest factors for safe co-sleeping. There is evidence that the SIDS risk is actually lower when you co-sleep safely. Incidents have only been recorded where one or more of the guidelines hasn't been followed (generally not BF or the parents have drunk alcohol or taken drugs). If you are BF, learning to feed lying down is the way to get the most rest!

Daytime, let her nap on you but also put her in a sling or the pram so you don't feel like you can't get off the sofa. I'm also enjoying a lunchtime snooze in bed with 5 week old DS most days. I'd highly recommend it!

My 9 week old is the same. We swaddle in a sleepyhead and battle it in the night..eventually he will settle there when tired enough. After 5am though he's awake enough to resist so we co sleep. In the day he sleeps on me in a sling !

Not all at once obviously but try :
Sleepyhead
Swaddle
Co sleep if you breastfeed (but read the safety guidelines and dont do it if you or your partner smokes or has had a drink or any other risk factors.) learning to bf lying down and cosleeping saved my sanity.

In the day, sleepyhead, swaddle, or stretchy sling.

It's totally normal for them to hate being alone. They've been INSIDE you their entire life so far - they know nothing else and it must be overwhelming for them.

I would look at safe ways to co sleep. Nothing else to be done.

Our son was the same so we switched to cosleeping with cocoonababy first then sleepyhead. Both brilliant and worth the investment (theoretically you don't need both, so if you are choosing one is recommend sleepyhead as it fits them much longer!)
