My 18m DD has started waking between 4-5am. She will not nap in the day as a rule, and hasn't for ages, though she did fall asleep in her highchair yesterday morning after running around since 4am. She goes to bed around 7pm. She has also started having some epic tantrums during the day as I know she's tired, she just won't sleep! She won't come in with me and DP, she screams and thrashes around, we have to get up. She won't play in her room nicely, she stands in the cot screaming. She's a bit young for a gro clock yet but I'll get one as soon as she can understand it.
Is there anything I can do that I haven't tried? I am so tired!

I'm watching this. My 22 month old is the same, but he naps in the day. He was up at 4 today , brought into bed with me where he fidgets and fidgets. I'm hoping someone has some answers!
If I leave him to cry at all he will be sick. I sympathise with you .

I was going to post about similar! I spoke to the health visitor yesterday who recommended staying in her room with her when she wakes early but sit on a chair and reassure her without touching her, sounds negative but I don't think it would work for my daughter. She also suggested a sticker chart but at 19 months I'm not sure she would grasp it! Feeling your pain Cake

A sticker chart. Ffs. What do they expect them to do? Eat it?
Same same here. He's always been an early riser, 4-5am every bloody day. Both of my children were/are terrible sleepers. DS1 didn't sleep through the night till 2. He wakes occasionally now and the odd night terror but overall he's good. DS2 I'm waiting for 2yrs... he's 19months. I'm hoping the next baby due will be my charm...and feckin sleep.
And I have a very good routine for them, dinner, bath, books, bed. Plenty of food in their bellys. Warm comfortable rooms. Even bought a white noise machine recently. I think it helps, even just as a sound barrier for us watching tv in the evening. I've tried medication- dose of antihistamine for a week to try to break the cycle, no real results. I give up. I accept defeat!
