Sleep

Anyone else with a 9 month old down to 1 nap?

9mo DS is generally sleeping through 11 hours straight at night again, thankfully.

But his naps have gone to pot.

Previously -
7am - wake
9.30 - 11am - nap
2.30 - 3.30pm - nap
7.30pm - bedtime

This was like clockwork and regardless of whether we were home or out he would sleep at these times.

For about 3 weeks it's gone to pot. He is waking at around 7am but if I put him down any time before 11.30 am he will sleep for 10-20 mins only. And then won't go back to sleep till 2.30 but again only for 10-20 mins.

So im now trying a different approach. Today I gave him an early lunch and put him down at 12.30, he woke at 1.50 so he had an hour and 20 mins. This is a big improvement however I'm not convinced this will see him through till bedtime now. I expected more 2.5 hours nap

Is anyone elses 9-10 month old on one nap or been through similar to this and if so what should I do? I'm struggling to plan my days now as I just can't seem to get it right!

Thanks

Ds gets up at about 7/7.15, nap at 12/12.30 until 1.30/2 then bed at 8

Not really sure how it's happened though. When he would want to nap mid morning I slowly extended the time I kept him awake until he made it to 12 30 iyswim.

Both my boys were down to 1 nap by this age and had stopped napping completely before they were 2.

DS was about 10 months when he went down to one nap a day. Oddly, if he's at home he prefers a morning nap (about 10:30-12) but at nursery it's 12:30-2. Neither makes a difference to bedtime, which is about 7:15.

All mine were down to 1 X 45 minute nap mid morning at this age, dropped completely 14-16 months, just to warn you....Grin just carry on with what you are doing, he will sleep when tired, might need to bring bedtime forwards a little though.

This makes me feel a lot better! Everyone in RL that I've mentioned it to has told me its impossible he will only need one nap at such a young age. But unless I put him down for his afternoon nap at 5.30 pm (no thanks) then I couldn't see another way around it!

I always found he needed less day sleep in the younger days too, when all others were on 3 naps he was on 2 so I guess I should be happy it lasted this long Grin
