Sleep

Nearly 7mo waking up during the night

I just thought I'd get some feedback on how normal this is

DS is just coming up to 7 months and is on mixed feeding (one bottle a day and some solids, BF rest of the time). Since he was 3mo he hasn't slept for more than 3/4 hours at a time and at the moment typically goes to bed at 7:30/8, wakes up around 11 and then at 1,3 and 5. He wakes up for the day at 7. For the 11pm wake up, sometimes I can shush him back to sleep. I'm torn as to whether or not to feed him then, in the hope that he sleeps longer. I was worried that he was unable to get himself back to sleep on his own without feeding, but for the past two weeks he's been going to sleep on his own (he used to be fed to sleep) and it hasn't made much of a difference.

Is this normal? I'm hoping that once he's weaned from BF he'll sleep longer stretches at night.

Normal in my experience. Dd could be rocked back to sleep at 16 months, and slept through most nights from 18m. I'd wait until really established on solids before thinking about not feeding if they're waking for it

Dd was the same at that age (now 7.5 months) and I just went cold turkey one night. I couldn't refuse the feed at 2-3am, some six hours after she last fed, and I still feed her at the same time. But after that one night (where I refused all night breastfeeds except the 2-3 am feed), she went down for 5-6 hours, wakes for a feed, then down for another three.

The first night of refusing I picked her up and rocked her, singing, shushing etc.

Then we had four nights of brilliant sleeping, as described above. Last night was a disaster, but I know that two teeth are coming through and so I fed her every time she woke (easier to face after four nights of decent sleep).

We'll see how she is once these teeth are properly through . . .

Thanks! Everything else has been changing- he moved his bedtime forward about a week ago, he's been taking longer naps etc but this night waking hasn't changed. I did manage to get him to drop the first feed about a month ago by gradually reducing how long he ate for, but then there was a huge disaster with his cot arriving and he started it up again

My 7 month old goes down at 7, wakes at 10 to feed, then every hour/hour and a half after that until 6. Zzzzz

Cinnamon - you have my thoughts. Every now and then DS does a night like that and it kills
