Moving from cot to bed....

Hi,
Would appreciate some advice on moving 2 year old to cot. We're due baby number 2 in December and thought best to get the move done before that happens!
We don't have a cot bed, do we move straight from cot to single bed or buy a cot bed?
Any tips greatly appreciated:)

I'm about to do this with my 2yo too. We are just going straight from cot to single bed with bed guard as that is what we did with the eldest and worked well. Also stair gate on the door too. He has been harping an about it for weeks as we bought tractor bedding months ago and he is desperate to sleep in it! I will be watching this thread for advice Smile

I went from cot (that converted to a cot bed) and then to a single bed. My main concern was my ds falling out of the bed, make sure they can get out easily enough. I also bought some dream tubes to help my concerns. Each time I changed I just did it but bought new bedding for each stage to make it exciting for him. Good luck and congrats on the new baby.

DS went straight from a cot to a single bed. We used a swimming doodle under the fitted sheet to stop him rolling out and put a stair gate on his door to stop him roaming. The first couple of nights he was in and out of bed like a yoyo but now the novelty has worn off he tends to stay put.

That's great, thanks. I've had people say that they grow oit of toddler beds really quickly so it's not worth it. I'm just nervous about the height of a single bed but I guess if I put one side against a wall and use a bed guard that could be an option and save having to change bed again?!

Then potty training after this!!
I'm just nervous about the change as her bedtime routine is pretty good at the moment! Fingers crossed. I was thinking of taking her to shops to show her beds rather than online shop hopefully can get her interested in the move!

Ours is from Ikea. It's lower than a standard single so DS can get in and out on his own. Touch wood he hasn't fallen out (well not that we know of anyway!).
