Help!! Baby won't settle for sleep with anyone other than me

Hello, I have a beautiful, smiley gorgeous little girl who absolutely refuses to be settled by anyone other than me. She is seven months old and I have barely left her side. My partner does everything I would do at bedtime but she literally screams till she can't breathe until I come back in the room. I am desperate for me, my partner and her to find a solution. Can anyone advise what we could try? Should I just let her scream it out with dad? Should I be going in and out of the room to re assure her I haven't been eaten by a black hole? Should we be doing controlled crying and no one try and settle her for too long?? I feel like I have no idea what I should do or what I should try!! Any advice so massively gratefully recieved...

I had similar with our DD.

Well, I had to suddenly go into hospital for an operation and so there was no other option other than for my DH to do bedtime. And for over a week once I got home I couldn't even pick DD up or hold her for a cuddle so DH had to continue every night.

She soon got the idea and I think that me not being there helped as she couldn't sense that I was in the house but not with her.

Maybe you could pop out for a bit at bedtime? Even if it's to sit in the car with a book ands cuppa! I think popping in and out of the room would possibly make things worse.

This sounds like my DD! She only does it for her bedtime sleep though, she just gets too overtired at the end of the day. It will (I hope!!) get better with age. Please don't do control crying, it will make it worse as she'll be even more anxious when you're there that you'll disappear at any moment!

When you put her down is she falling asleep by herself or are you holding her to sleep and then putting her down when she's asleep?
