Bed/nap time acrobatics in 8mo DD

Hi

My DD learnt to crawl about two weeks ago, althouhh she doesn't seem particularly keen on practicing during the day, preferring to whine until I 'walk' her around instead.

However, for the past 4 days, every time we try to take her down for a nap, she seems to go wild in bed practicing crawling and tumbling all over the place, previously it would take about 15 mins to get her to sleep but at the minute it's taking over an hour.

I don't mind too much, she is in pretty good spirits when she's doing it, and it's good for her to practice I guess, but I'm presuming it's a phase and just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and how long it lasted?

Cheers!

Bedtime yoga Grin my DD was an expert Wink
She's 13mo now and still does it sometimes!
As long as she was happily chatting away and not upset about being in her cot, I just used to leave her to it intil she fell asleep!
I have a video baby monitor with two-way sound, so I can talk to her. If the bedtime yoga goes on for too long then I simply say "lie down" firmly through the monitor, and she immediately flops onto her stomach a lays perfectly still....it's like she thinks "omg mummy can see through the walls!" I think I wrote a very similar message when my DS was 8 months. They get over it. I just had to keep going in, lying him down and saying sleepy time. This was amongst weeks of undoing all the sleep training I had done thinking he could no longer self settle. One day when I had taught him how to sit from standing, lie from certain positions I left him to it. He no longer scrawls around, stands etc. .just stays lying. If he can't SS now it is for other reasons. It is, dare I say it, another phase to contend with x

Thanks both, you have given me hope! Although we bedshare so when she doesn't settle I'm stuck watching her perform! Might be time to move her into the cot :(

We used to bed share (for part of the night) too until DD learned to crawl!! Then it was a no go....getting kicked in the face and all sorts during the night was not fun!

Ha! Yep I know that feeling, I've got a massive black eye at the moment that looks horrendous!

How did you go about moving your LO into a cot? My DD loves being in bed with us so much I just can't imagibe her accepting going to sleep anywhere else!
