Dropping to one nap - too soon?

DD 2, almost 13 months, had been resisting her morning nap, and has always been an early riser, so I thought I'd chance dropping to one nap and seeing how it went. Hoping it would help the early mornings Grin. We're about a week in and she's still struggling to make it through the morning, and worse, has started waking around midnight each night Shock. Wide awake, clearly overtired. DD 1 dropped to one nap at 11 months but does it sound like it's just too soon for DD2? Or should I give it a few more days and see if she adjusts? Gah!!! TIA!

I try to do the dropping a nap transitionally by pushing it back by 15 minutes a day and bringing lunch forward so that after a week or 10 days they're sleeping "after" lunch, then we start pushing lunch back again.

My DS has just turned one and he has gone down to one nap however he has been going to bed at 7pm and waking up at around 8:45am! (Has milk at 5am but goes back to sleep). I guess you could count the morning sleep session as morning nap?

What time is she napping? We found mid morning to early afternoon would be the best time.

So my DD1, DS1 and DS2 were all somewhere around 12 months old when they dropped to one nap. I thought I knew what I was doing when DD2 came along, forth child and all that.

12 months old came along and I am all set and ready to start morning Toddler Groups, now she would be dropping her morning nap. No chance

At 12 months old she would sleep 9am-11am then 1pm-3pm, then 7.30pm-7.00am.

The same at 14 months...
No change at 16 months...
Come 18 months and I start wondering if she will always forever have 2 naps, she was still having 2 hours both AM and PM.

She is now 20 and a half months old and just, literally in the last 2 weeks or so, started dropping her morning nap. She now sleeps for about 3 hours in the afternoon. Its been a long time coming. Finally, finally she can start going to activity groups in the morning.

So, just because your DC1 changed to 1 nap per day at 11 months old definitely does not mean DD2 will be ready to!
