I've got a 6 month old baby, any suggestions on how to start a sleep routine? She currently goes to sleep between 8.30-9.30 and goes through the night just wakes up for a dummy. I plan to put her in her own room at 6 months. Also she sleeps either bounced or rocked to sleep.

Any advice? Thanks

Well, if she always goes to sleep around 8.30ish, then you can start a routine about 30-45 mins before that. What works for us is bath, into pjs, milk (breastfeed), then into sleeping bag (awake), pop dummy in, put him into cot and fingers crossed he nods off. Sometimes have to do a few dummy reinsertions before he goes to sleep as he likes to take it out and play with it. He's 7.5 mo, but at 6 mo we also sometimes had to rock him to sleep a bit if he was unsettled at bedtime.

If you want to wean baby off being rocked to sleep you can start by rocking her until she's very very nearly asleep and then put her down in cot. Gradually start putting her down more awake each night until you can put her in cot without having to rock her.
