Crying before sleep

My 8 and a half month old cries alot before he goes to sleep, hes not hungry or needing nappy change. He's been doing it for a while now, has anyone else had that problem?

I think we all have that problem. Is it a new thing or has he always done it? Could be seperation anxiety. I wish we had a switch we could flick that would send them to sleep without hassle. Have you tried comforting him? X

Is this a new thing? You're quite lucky if you haven't had this issue so far Grin

Babies find it harder to drift off to sleep than adults, does he have a dummy or a comforter? How was he going off to sleep before?

thanks for the replies!
Maybe its more common than I thought which makes me feel better.
Hes been doing it for a while now, maybe a couple of months. He has a dummy and its def not separation as he is with us and being cuddled before bed when he gets tired. He cries like theres a problem like trapped wind every night. Sometimes we cuddle him for 2hours before he drops off! He doesn't cry before naps or in the daytime. Maybe just over tired? When he does drop off he is ok usually. My other baby drops off with no fuss.

Yes a couple of hours to calm is a long time. Is it a pain cry? Teething perhaps? Could always try a bit of cal gel/pol to see if it improves. Could be overtired? So good that he settles well for naps, you are lucky x
