Dd is 5 months and has recently started sleeping through.
We went to in laws at weekend for 2 nights. MIL bought a travel cot for her to sleep in - she's never slept in one before. Sge would NOT settle in it at all and resulted in her sleeping in bed with us for 2 nights.
Since we have been home her sleep has been horrendous. She is waking every 45mins through the night and can't seem to sleep through a cycle.

What do we do? Leave her to cry?
She wakes up happy, not moaning or anything so doesn't seem in pain with teeth or anything. She will cry if left.
I don't feed her everttime she wakes just rock her to sleep.
She's never been able to settle and has to be fed or rocked to sleep and then transferred to crib.

How can she go from sleeping through sleep cycles to waking up every 45 mins and not being able to get herself back off???

Advise really needed!!

Thanks

Might just be the 6 month sleep regression hitting a bit early? With DD sleep regressions were often catalysed by things like holidays or a period of illness or, in one case, a heat wave.

I personally would not leave a 5 month old to cry. When DD's sleep was at its worst (3 months to 6 months) I just did what it took to get through the night. For us that was co-sleeping with my boobs out so she could latch on in my sleep whenever she woke up.

I really don't want to co-sleep as I think letting her sleep with us for 2 nights whilst away is making her wake up all the time. I could be wrong though.
If the situation doesn't improve over next few nights co-sleeping may be the only option!!

Oh I'm so sorry. You'll have to catch up on sleep wherever possible. Can someone else give you a break in the day to nap? My recommendation at that age is also Co sleeping.

Thanks Lizzie. I'm tempted to co-sleep but worried that she will still be sleeping with us when she's 3!
Or do you think they grow out of it when they are older?

nic I co-slept with DD to get through these rough months of crappy sleeping (around 3-6 months) and I don't think she's slept in our bed once since then (she's 3 now). It was a case of doing what we needed to do at the time to survive and maximise sleep for our family. She soon grew out of it, was in a cot in her own room at about 6 months, sleeping through the night at 8.5 months and has been a pretty reliable sleeper since then.
