Any advice nearly 5yo dd won't settle for dh

Dd has always been a nightmare to get to sleep with out being fed/ held/ stayed with until she fell asleep.

For the last I don't know how long she has been a nightmare for dh to get to sleep. She fusses and moans and eventually dh gets so frustrated that he either gives up and calls for me or loses his patience and I hear and come up.

Any ideas how we can sort this?
Reward chart doesn't seem to help at the minute.
i would LOVE a night off from bedtime dramas!

Could you go out one evening so she knows you won't be there to settle her to try and break the cycle of you always having to settle her? Or would she get too upset with that?

On the rare occasions I do go out she's just as bad, if not worse because she "misses mummeeeeeeeeeeeee"
Dh usually ends up lying down next to her because she's sobbed herself into a state.
