DD turned 4 months lastFriday and had her vaccinations.

She used to do 3 solid naps a day the one in the middle always 2hra plus.
Nighttime is still a disaster but at least I had the day to keep me sane. No longer!

She can't seem to make it through a sleep cycle anymore. It used to be that I she woke a quick dummy drop in her mouth would resettle her but this has stopped working. She just cries through it or spits it out. Patting stroking etc makes her more
mad.
She sleeps on her front only and now thumps around the cot in frustration.

I'm so lost. Is it just a sleep regression or is this now her permanent sleep pattern??

She's constantly over tired and she's not drinking her milk either.

Any ideas?

This is my baby! He's almost 5 months now and I've resolved myself to the fact that he is just a short napper! He changed during the four month sleep regression too.

But he's generally happy and although he gets overtired before every nap, it's not generally too bad. So that's a difference to your situation!

It must be so frustrating. But I think alot of babies just start sleeping better once the regression sods off.

This is my DD at the moment! Google 4 month sleep regression, it should pass, fingers crossed!

Classic 4 month sleep regression. It should pass, but meanwhlle persevere with trying to resettle/extend naps. But if she is taking only short naps she'll likely need more of them. E.g. if she's taking 45 min naps, put her back down after she's been awake for an hour-ish. DS is 4.5 months and he'll sometimes have 5 naps a day if they're crappy short ones.

I could've written this! DD2 had one sleep cycle naps all day today, I was at the end of my tether. Literally yesterday I watched her put herself off to sleep (DD1 never did anything like it), today she was a proper nap dodger...sling, cot, cuddles, nothing made any difference! I never believed things could nosedive so quickly!

Same here. Pretty normal ime.
Babies grow up so quick, so I forgive him Smile

Thanks all. Good to know it's pretty normal. Just so frustrating.

So she took two 45 minute naps and refused to resettle. Was pretty
grumpy. Then at 3.00 did 2 hrs and 45 minutes until 5.45. What the hell?!
I just couldn't bear to wake her up.
Of
Course this made for a nightmare evening. I put her down at 7.45ish and she's been up on and off
Since (that part is pretty normal for her but it's worse today.)

I just hope the night is better. She was up from 10.30-1am last night. I was in tears.

IT will pass. Lots of babies are cap mappers between 4-6 months, I agree with previous advice. Also just ride it out, things will become clearer again after 6 months.

She was up 4 X between 7.45 and 10.30. Had a feed and slept
Until 1am and then 3 hrs of shuffling moaning thrashing around with intermittent sleep. Then a more
solid 3 hrs until morning.

She's had a 90 min nap hurrah and then 2 rubbishy 45
Min ones. More grumps.

Gosh this is the same as my DD (16 weeks) but her sleep cycle is bang on 20 minutes! Takes so long to get her to sleep and then she only sleeps for 20 mins on the dot! We too end up with a really over tired baby. I guess babies just need more naps if they are really short (and spend our whole day trying to get them to sleep Confused) ?!
