Hi all.
I'm returning to work shortly and have started to have my son go to my parents for a few hours and to nap there so he gets used to it.
He hated the travel cot and screamed so much I had to collect him so he could sleep at home. He had his comforter with him and his routine was as usual.
Anyone have any tips please to make the transition smooth? Thanks

Travel cot mattresses are really uncomfortable so my first suggestion would be to buy a proper cot mattress to put in the travel cot.

Have your parents got similar bedding? Did they settle him in a similar way?

It would be worth you spending a few nap times at your parents house and you putting him to sleep in the cot at their house, so that your presence helps him settle.

Then once he is settle OK with you at their house, start settling him down together and then finally with your parents doing the settling.

That's great thank you. The mattress is really uncomfortable! I will try and put him down this time as my mum did it last time. Thank you Smile

Or a sleeping pod type thing that goes with him - he sleeps in it at home and in the travel cot? We've had sleepyheads since the DTs were born and it's made the transition from sharing, to their own cots, travel cots and staying at my parents' much easier.

Oh, and Ewan the dream sheep used to go with them to my mum's too.

He should sleep in the travel cot in his usual room a few times too.

They are great ideas thank you. I will try him in the travel cot at home and think I'll put him down in it at my parents tomorrow too. Thanks for the ideas X
