Hi.
So i have a 9 weekold girl who is putting on weight well. The hv suggested we give her a dream feed and let her sleep through the night. The prob is she has always only ever woken once in night at 2 but she has started to just stir and wiggle but not make a fuss or cry. I put her dummy back in and she will settle for an hour or so then it will go on for an hour or so and eventually she falls into deep sleep again. Hv says its coz she is in the habibit ofstiring at these times and if i dont get her up unless awake and crying she will soon stop stirring so dramatically.Has this happened to anyone else?I dont want her to be hungry and think dummy is food but hv seems to think she has eaten enuff in day.thanks x

If she's hungry I'm sure she will fully wake and cry to let you know. My DD used to wake at 3 for a feed but then she stopped, she'd stir at 3 but just suck her thumb and not wake properly. I wouldn't do anything as she wasn't really awake and wasn't crying and after a week or so she stopped stirring at all and just slept right through.

Thanks for replying. She stirred with a really wet nappy at 1 so thpught id better change it and then she never really settled until she started crying at 3.45 i fed her but she didnt take much. Did u dream feed? I did yesterday at 10 and maybe should of changed nappy then. I dunno whether to just ignore hv and let her wake and not worry bout dream feed as think it makes her nappy really wet. I dont no what to do for the best

I've never done dream feeds, DD always needs a vigorous winding so wouldn't be able to really.

Currently she has her last feed at 7.30 and a clean nappy then sleeps through to morning without a change.

Wow I think waking once at 9 weeks is amazing!!

I thought having a feed in the night was quite usual... My hv used to suggest feeding if waking upset!

She used to stay with us till 10 the feed and bed and sleep till 2 then through till 6-7 . Although it always took me a while to get her bk down. I have never let her get to tge point of crying as it then takes me even longer to get bk down.so even if she can sleep with a dream feed till 5 that would be ok
