Early waking getting worse

Ds 17 months has been early waking for about 9 months. It's usually between 5.30-6 and I've just got on and accepted it. But his routine has recently changed - nap and bedtime pushed a bit later - and now he wakes between 4.30-5. It's hideous and I can't bear it, it's just too early. I have no idea why it's happening, does anyone have any advice? Am including old and new schedule below in case I'm missing something...

Old routine - wakes 5.30, naps 11-12.30, bed 6.30

New routine - wakes 5, naps 12-2, bed 7

The nap has become later just because as he's become older that's when he's getting tired now.

Ds has a blackout blind AND curtains in his room, he fully goes to sleep and settles by himself, there are no noises I'm aware of that would be waking him at this time.

I don't what to do! I was hoping the later nap and bedtime might encourage later waking, not earlier!

I know you won't want to hear this but in my experience they all go through this phase and it's just a case of trying to accept it. The more wound up you get the harder it will be to just get on with it. (and yes, I have cried my way through many a 4am start over the years!).

That's what I was afraid of sneaky! It's so grim, especially when I have friends with babies who sleep 7pm-9am Angry

Can you stop his nap completely ?

I think in this situation it would really help tbh , when he gets tired just keep him active and entertained instead (easier said than done I know)

I wouldn't cut the nap, have you tried bed at 8pm instead?
