What's happened to our sleeping baby?

14 mo DD has generally been a good sleeper but her sleep has gone to hell this week. There are some things going on:

  • she's not well (long running snotty cold, eczema flaring, potential thrush in her mouth caused by an eczema infection)
  • we think she's teething
  • she's out of her routine (usually ft nursery)

As we had some time over the holiday, we made changes to her bedroom we'd been planning. In particular, bought a small sofabed. Until now, the odd bad night she's had has brought her into our bed. This kicks DH out but also, I worry about her falling out. The sofa bed is foam on the floor so no worries there.

Because she was ill, I slept on the sofa bed the first night it was in. Last night (Sofabed Night 2), As her health had been better last night, We felt she was only after the company so didn't sleep in with her last night. She was up for a couple of hours (we used PUPD) at 2am and again at 5am.

What's happened? Does she think the new sofabed is her pass to company and needs to learn better? Is she just ill? Have we broken her?

Any advice?

Sounds like she is just ill, this happened to my dd at around this age, funny how routine just gets thrown out the window when they aren't well. Give her time and she will be back to normal, I always think about how I feel when I'm ill and it puts it into perspective.

I think you answered your own question in your second paragraph! Sure it's just a phase...
