Baby only wants to be held!

My ten week old only wants to sleep being held. After feeding he will only fall asleep in my arms, then however carefully I transfer him to his Moses basket he wakes up - either straight away or after ten minutes or so. I've tried putting a hot water bottle in his bed to warm it and swaddling. Any other tips? I really don't want to co-sleep but at the moment it's the only way he will sleep for longer than an hour at a time!

I came to terms with this when my baby was 6 weeks old.
enjoy the cuddle time I do.

Ah. You are attempting the transfer too early Smile you need to wait a full 20 mins by the clock, then transfer keeping one hand on his head and one across his tummy for a few moments after you've put him down.

Yeah I think they're all a bit like this. I know I'm a bit awful but I have have to transfer him, I hold him all day and just need some time where he's not pressed on me. It's a sort of panicky claustrophobia.

I find waiting till he's absolutely out works usually - at least 10 mins after extracting my nipple plus making sure his arms are floppy. I'm not moving him far - just into a sleepyhead right next to me in a co sleeper. Last night for the first time I managed to get him to settle in the crib although he woke after transfer. I put a dummy in his mouth and my hand on his chest. He'll probably never do it again now.

Mine was like this for ages. At night sleeping on my side with him attached to or nuzzling my nipple was the only way either of us would get any sleep. Moses basket a complete waste of space and money! It does get easier, honest.

See I know I'd get more sleep if I could get the hang of letting him sleep attached to my nipple but when I try it I get palpatations and I can't sleep. Maybe I need to practice/ suck it up. Do you find you actually get to sleep that way?

Neither of mine were put downable for the first 2 years. Slings and co sleeping were the only options for us

It's expensive but the Sleepyhead might work. My wee one has gone down easily since he was 3 days old after getting this. He goes in it, I walk away, and he's asleep in minutes day or night. He doesn't sleep through the night but has no qualms being put down. He's not an especially clingy baby at all mind you, he's 15 wks old now.

I found the sleepyhead made a big difference to him staying asleep once down but I can't put him in it asleep. I would still hugely recommend it though. My DS went from waking after 30 mins at the most to gettih 2/3/4 hour stretches (seemingly at random!)

Could he have silent reflux? Reflux babies hate to lie flat and tend to want to be held all the time, often upright.
