Trouble removing baby from boob!

Not sure if this is best here or under feeding but it's more of a sleep issue.
DS2 (7mths) is breast fed to sleep at night and sometimes for naps. This works for us and I did the same with DS1. The problem is I now seem unable to remove him from my boob without him waking up and crying. He used to come off easily and stay asleep but every time I try and remove him he cries. We co-sleep but he basically ends up attached to me all night. Does anyone else have the same problem or any suggestions? TIA

Take off boob and put dummy in?! My DD just wanted something to suck and dummy would fall out anyway when she was in deep sleep

Unfortunately he won't take a dummy Sad. I've tried numerous times over the last few months but he just sucks a bit, wakes up then chews it, then spits it out. It's driving me mad! He won't take a bottle either, had to abandon a 'keep in touch' day at work today as he got into a complete frenzy for my mum and wouldn't feed!

There's a method I remember reading about in the 'No Cry Sleep Solution'. I think she called it the Pantley Pull-Off? Anyway, you feed baby till almost asleep then gently remove them from your boob. If they cry, re attach and try again. And again. And again. The idea is that your baby will eventually get used to falling asleep without your nipple in their mouth.

I did it with DD1 around 8 months and it did work eventually.

NB Its been a while since I read the book and I may have garbled the explanation so you may want to read it yourself!

Watching this with interest...
My 5mo DD is the same. Goes mental if I try give her a dummy. In my mind I thought she won't be this small forever and things will work themselves out. However tonight DP mentioned he'd like us to have a bit of us time. Completely impossible atm with baby and the way things are

Thanks Mist, I'll give that a try. Nothing to lose at the moment! Thanks for the link.
Sleepy, hope things improve for you too. I can't remember the last time DH and I had any 'alone' time! He comes down from putting DS1 to bed at 7:45 and then I go straight to bed with DS2 as it's the only way I get some hours in. We're like passing ships!

You do know to slide a damp finger between your breast and the baby's mouth to release the suction, don't you? I'm sure you do- but just in case...........

Thanks sometimes. It's tough isn't it. When did your DS1 stop being nursed to sleep? Did he just stop on his own?
Hakluyt yes my little monkey just wakes up when she can feel my nipple isn't in her mouth

Sleepy, my DS1 fed to sleep until he turned 2 (he was a terrible sleeper)! He just suddenly refused the offer of a boob one night when he was a bit under the weather and that was it, he never wanted it again. I was glad he stopped of his own accord. DS2 is following in his footsteps on the sleep front Sad. I don't know how I would cope if he didn't feed to sleep. Just need to give my nipples a break!

Wow, 2!! I think part of me wishes my DD will keep going like that but then again it would be nice to have my bed back with DP and to get some decent sleep! It's such a nice bond with them as well that only you will have and is very time limited. I'm totally with you as well about not knowing how to get bub to sleep unless you feed to sleep! I think I'm going to look into sleep training when she's about 6mo and her teeth aren't hurting her.
