Taking side off normal cot (i.e. not cot bed)

Has anyone done this? I have a drop side cot, and wondered if it's possible to take the drop side off to prepare for the transition to bed, even though the bed is not a cot bed, in other words not designed to do this?

I have no idea whether this is something everyone does, or whether it will just fall apart!

Hi there. Not sure if you can do it with cot you have. I had a cot bed and even with cot base at its lowest I still used a bed side rail as if not my dd would fall out of bed onto the floor which you don't want.

Some cots are ok for this, others are not - it all depends on how it's made.

I have the IKEA Sundvik cot and this is ok without one side (no extra rail needed to make it stable, though might need one to keep child from falling out). But others are not ok.

Sorry not helpful!
