DS is 4 1/2 months and we are struggling to move from 4 to 3 naps a day. If he wakes at 5am we will generally need 4 naps, and if he wakes at 6/6.30 we can normally manage with just 3 and a slightly earlier bedtime.
The 5am wake makes the rest of the day really difficult. I remember when DD was a baby, we finally solved the 5am waking by delaying her morning nap. Rather than letting her have a nap when she needed one (at say, 7am) I delayed it and made it more or less the same time each day, and it did end up setting her rhythm for the day…and the next naps fell at more or less the same time also.
This was a while ago, and I can't remember the age that we started this or how I actually managed it.
Wondering if anyone else has any thoughts about this.
