Sleep

Moved from co sleeping to Moses basket but waking up too frequently

My DS is 11 weeks old and we have recently managed to move him from our bed to his Moses basket. The problem is he now wakes every 1.5-2hrs whereas before he would sleep 4 hour stretches in our bed (sleeping on me). He seems to be hungry each time he wakes, so I feed him and he usually goes off to sleep in the basket again but just wakes up too soon!

Any tips? TIA

Have you tried putting a tshirt of yours underneath him in the basket? One that smells of you?

Have you got a cot yet? DS was in his moses up to 8 weeks then we moved him into a cot and he's slept better- I think he was batting the sides of the moses and waking himself up. If he's feeding the same before bed it sounds more like comfort he wants ,do you think? Then I'm sure he settle when he gets used to it. Have you tried warming the basket? or a Ewan the sheep-(I think that's what it's called)type device?

Also -and I know this sounds absolutely aweful - have you tried just ignoring him a bit? I know I know- I'm not talking cry it out or anything like that!! It's just that I had stomach ache a few nights ago and was awake all night- God our baby makes some noise! We sleep through it now until he really needs feeding but I nearly went to him to feed him/comfort him loads of times that night when I was already up!!

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try the clothes idea. I tried it when he was younger and it didn't work, but now he is happier in the Moses basket then it may help. I find the idea of warming the basket a bit of a hassle, especially as he is happy for the initial hour or 2, its just staying in there that is the problem. Not too keen on getting out of bed to make up a hot water bottle!

May try Ewan the sheep. Quite expensive though. Anyone used it before?

I think he won't be in the basket for much longer as he is getting quite big for it. Maybe the transition to the cot will help him sleep, not just because it is comfier but further away from my bed and I'll Be less likely to wake up. It's just the Moses basket is so convenient for night feeds. Then again a move to the cot may cut down on night feeds. Swings and roundabouts!

What about some kind of co sleeper/bedside cot arrangement? It doesn't have to be one of the mega expensive ones (bednest etc), you can just get a normal cot and take one side off :)

Ds slept on daddy's chest until 10wks and then slowly deigned to sleep in his bloody expensive bednest for longer periods Grin
