Sleep

consistency with STTN - how long does it take to get more than 2 nights in a row??!

DD (almost 1 year) has managed some fantastic sleep-throughs recently... for two nights in a row. Then we are back to wake-ups (either frequent or just one lasting an hour or more) and early starts :(

The trouble is that even on the nights she does sleep through, I am awake regularly anyway as my sleep pattern is shot to pieces after months of wake-ups.

It's only been the last 2-3 weeks that we've had any good nights at all so am hoping it just takes some babies a while to get more consistent...?

Thing is that I've seen the Promised Land now and it's doubly hard to take when she has a bad night. I get all excited (through the exhaustion) when she sleeps through and then my hopes are cruelly dashed the next night.

So does it take a while (longer than 2-3 weeks!1) to get a more consistent pattern of sttn? I sort of imagined it would just happen and then stay that way...

I hope at some stage they just do it. Mines (15 months) has sttn a handful of times - longest stretch was 5 days. Now we are back to frequent night waking and early rising (3.30am today) my sleep pattern is also shot to pieces, today I'm barely existing and tomorrow I have an early start with work so totally dreading tonight. Guess we just have to hang in there. xx

I'm really hoping that I don't regret this as it's usually a curse haha. DS was improving from 7.5 - 9 months and consistent from 9-13 months. We then moved house, nursery and teethed from 13-17 months which was atrocious but from 17-20.5(date) he has been a little angel. Hoping for no more regressions!

Watching with interest - two weeks ago I too saw the promised land - 2 amazing nights - but now it's all gone to pot again. He has been almost constantly ill so am I deluding myself that it might magically sort itself out when he is well again?
