Hi, I am planning a creative project about events and situations children have slept through. Please help me by sharing the noisiest / busiest / most absurd situations your kids have slept right through... your help would be much appreciated!

18 mo dd napped through the neighbours scaffolding coming down, which was virtually outside her bedroom.

DD has slept through two earthquakes. Granted only UK ones. But the noise before an during woke both me and DH up, usually as tit was first starting to rumble in the distance. Both ended up making the doors rattle, etc.

DD would have been a few months old the first time, and about 4y the second time.

DS1, when 3, slept through our house burning down! Well, a large fire which was very very loud due to exploding objects in the cellar, all smoke alarms going off, his father and I running around shreiking 'Argh! The house is on fire!', the sound of fire engines (3) approaching... he just snoozed on as I carried him out into the street, then later into a neighbour's house! He also slept through us going tenpin bowling as a toddler, tbh he would sleep through anything.

DS2 sadly would wake up if a butterfly farted in Australia, then take two hours to get back down again.

Well, very occasionally dh and I can hold a conversation in the living room while dd, who is napping upstairs, doesn't stir.

Thanks everyone, these are great! It's for a story I am planning so trying to think of really noisy, active, busy, absurd things a child would sleep through... keep them coming! Thanks!

Our normally light sleeper conked out at the end of the film Gravity (at cinema parent/baby showing). It's really really loud!!! No idea, normally a bee farting could wake him.

My DS used to be a terrible sleeper for his afternoon nap, til at the seaside on holiday I pushed him through an amusement arcade, all lights and music and noise. He fell straight to sleep... I did it every day that week at naptime, it was bliss :D

He also slept (aged 4) through an almost direct lightning strike (and associated deafening thunder) that woke a whole village as it struck the substation next to the farm we were staying on!

dd will regularly sleep through the phone ringing or the smoke alarms going off. Try to slip into her room for something however...

My dd will sleep through anything, I can Hoover and dry my hair right beside her and she even slept through the car alarm going off whilst she was inside! Not surprising that she also loves rock music and if she's crying a bit of Metallica will stop her instantly and send her to sleep, her daddy is very proud!

DD fell asleep in her sling at the local fireworks display last November...

Ds1 and ds2 (then aged almost 5 and 2.5) slept through me giving birth to ds3 in the living room under their bedroom. I shouted a lot for the last 15 minutes or so. Loudly. No idea how they slept through as was 7am so usual starting-to-stir time anyway.

Both Ds slept through arrival of ambulance for poorly dp last week. Paramedics up and down outside their bedroom. Not a peep. But god forbid one of them should hear the first whisper of an alarm in the morning

DS - then aged 5 - slept through the finale of a choir and brass band concert in church last Xmas - it was v late in the evening, though. But it was sooo loud! I laughed at him, bless him.

Don't know about DC's but as a child I once slept through a car crashing into a tree outside my bedroom window. Plus the accompanying police/ambulance/fire brigade arriving to remove car and person driving it.

yesterday DD slept in her buggy at the table in a restaurant at lunch wine my DF knocked a wine glass into the floor, loudly smashing it into a million pieces. Not a stir!
However once I apparently woke her (DP was watching her on the monitor) by turning the kitchen light off too noisily. Two rooms away. With both doors closed. Hmm

DS1 slept through regular Police Helicopter searches and a police raid across the street.

My DSis slept through a force 8 storm, twice near capsizing, whilst out sailing with family. Just woke up as we moored up and asked us all why we looked so rough?!

At about 7 months old my DD slept through a Wiggles concert draped over my mums shoulder.

Smoke alarms, many times. Early morning thunderstorm - I was down with DD in the kitchen when there was a fierce flash and veritable explosion above the house, that made me jump out of my skin (and I LOVE thunderstorms). DS was still comatose when we checked on him upstairs.

ThisIsNot - hope your DP was OK & OP that your book goes well.

ds slept through me giving birth to dd in the room below. I was not remotely quiet for the last half hour, plus all the commotion of mw's and paramedics coming and going, with our noisy wooden floor boards!

A Rizzle Kicks concert. Not that they were boring, far from it, he was just exhausted. Both of mine sleep through anything, including smoke alarms, storms, etc.

We moved into a house when dd was seven days old. My dh was fitting a wireless burglar alarm and I was sitting with dd who was asleep in the empty bedroom, on the floor.

Dh was fiddling on with the alarm, and of course it went off. And it was quite a small room. She didn't bat an eyelid. She didn't wake. We were like Laurel and Hardy trying to get it off and chucking it back and forwards in this totally empty room, with dd on the floor oblivious.

We tell her about it now but you just can't explain how loud it was. She's still a good sleeper.

My DS slept through our kitchen wall being knocked down during some building works! He was about 14 months.

Dd slept through us constructing a trundle bed next to her, and in the process we popped a balloon. Not even a moan from her.
