9 month old boy wakes up a lot

Hi all

My 9 month old baby boy is waking up every 2 hours. It's taking us at least half hour to put him back to sleep. And most of the time after walking with him for half an hour he gets up as soon as we put him in cot. He starts crying and stands up.
Most nights we are so exhausted that its easier to bring him into our bed, he suckles on me and falls asleep straight away. Fine for him but then we are wide awake, scared we will crush him, or he will fall out of bed....one of us (mostly husband) goes into spare room and the one who stays in bed with baby strains their neck as can't move around and be comfortable with baby there.

Really want a solution. Love son dearly , want him to know we are there for him. He clearly loves us too as falls asleep straight Away when in our bed. Don't want him to be scared and cry.... But would also like some sleep and me time.

Ps. He is not hungry
Pps. He is a happy baby during day, always around people (grandparents, mum dad, we all are always there around him, playing with him)
Naps well during day
Is not teething
Does not have gas and.....
Is breast fed

Any tips? Don't like idea of controlled crying.

It does sound like the 9 month sleep regression.

DS did that when he was learning to stand up. I think his little brain was so focused on learning that particular skill that he was doing it as soon as he stirred in his sleep, and then he wasn't able to lie down again. As soon as he figured out how to lie back down again, he started sleeping again! Would that fit with your son?

Have you thought about attaching cot to the side if your bed? This is how we survived 4 month sleep regression that never got a whole lot better!

So just took side off regular cot, stuffed gaps with towels and covered with sheet. We all get sleep, everyone has own space, baby gets used to sleeping in cot.

Our 9 month old is still waking every couple hours, but have just managed to get him to start going to sleep with feeding, rocking, cuddling. Will try progress this with gradual retreat soon.

How long does he nap during the day?
A sleep cycle in 45 mins. Dd started waking up after one sleep cycle during her naps then started effecting her sleep at night as she wasnt drifting back off.

I started gently disturbing her after 30mins but not waking her up. So it sent her back of for another 45 mins.

Her naps went back to 1.5 / 2 hours and really helped at night.

Also at one point I put the quilt on the floor at the side of the cot and refused to let her in our bed. Apparently it only takes three nights of a bad habit to set in.

I just just kept picking her up and lying her down tucking her in till she ran out of steam.

She does not get in our bed at all now but will only sleep in her cot which is a PITA when were out!

I feel your pain eyeballs hanging out!
