My 14 month old is so noisy falling asleep!

My DD settles herself to sleep, rarely with any problems and is put to bed at 6.45ish. It can take her up to 15 mins to fall asleep, I know this because she is sooo noisy! She makes loud moaning noises/'aaah' sounds, loud vocalisations and occasional grizzly sounds before the noises get quieter and quieter and eventually silence and I know she's asleep. I realise that this is not a problem, but I wondered if anyone else's baby or young toddler has done this? If so, when did they stop? I can't imagine her doing this at 3 or 4 years old, will she learn to go to sleep more quietly? I have never known her to fall asleep without 5-15 minutes worth of noise.

Yes, both my kids did that.

DD also cries like a banshee for about 20 seconds at the end then, boom, is suddenly asleep!

To be honest, as long as they were asleep they could make all the noise they liked getting there.

DS is now 4 years old and no longer does it :)

thanks roar, my DD sometimes does the quick loud cry then asleep thing too! To be honest, I can't listen to her, it really puts my teeth on edge and I just fear her winding herself up instead of down (which has happened about twice ever, but it has happened!!). I have to put the kettle on and make lots of noise for 10 minutes and hope she is asleep by the time I've finished!

Yep, that's normal behaviour from you too... By the time the kids bedtime comes then I'm am also very ready for a cuppa.

DS (21mo) grunts and growls like a wild animal at bedtime, and occasionally there will be a massive squeal/thud and then total silence...
