15 month old in toddler bed.

My daughter has been in her own bedroom since Feb (7 months old). Being a brilliant at going off to sleep by herself and sleeping 13 hours a night, I decided to try her out in the toddler bed two weeks ago. She had a cot bed, so I just had to take the sides off to make her new bed. Her bed time routine and sleep pattern have been the same up until last night.

Last night was the first real problem I have had with her getting up. First time, I explained it's bed time, time to sleep etc. Popped her back into bed. Each time she got up, I used less language to communicate with her until I said nothing at all. This continued for about 45 minutes before she fell asleep.

Tonight on the other hand, lasted just over 3 hours!! I used the same technique but it was simply not working. I even resorted to taken her rocking horse and toy box out of her bedroom (she was getting up to play with them). I caved in, and gave her another 6oz of milk but she refused it.

I guess that I'm just frustrated that Ive had 12 good nights in the 'new' bed and now I've had two bad ones.

Any one had a similar experience and what worked out for you? Any advice?

Thanks in advance x

My 20 month old dd2 did this as did her older sister (both in toddler beds from 17 months). I find a light show helps so long as you put it on again after the 10 mins is up.

DD has a light show as part of her bedtime routine smile 90% of the time she is asleep before the end of the ten minute timmer is up. DD also has a sleep CD on in the background to try and block out the noisey main road we live on.x

She is quite young to be in a bed, what's the rush?

agree - why are you trying for a bed? I haven't considered it for my 19mo yet and have just got a cot for the new one to sleep in in a few months.

poor you though - bad sleep is bad!

I tried DD in ther toddler bed 'just' to see if she would sleep through. She did for the first 12 nights with no problem. It's only the last two nights that have been trouble.Xx

Too young! My oldest was almost 2.5years when we took the sides off.. And still had problems for a while til she got used to it... Can't imagine putting my 15month old in a bed now!

It's trial and error. DD stayed at my mum's in Friday night, she slept through on a ready bed. I shouldn't of given up after 2 'bad' nights after 12 good nights but this mama likes her sleep too much smile
