The Sensational Baby Sleep Plan book - any good (at 4.5months)?

A family member recommended this book, in particular for advice on how to wean and drop milk feeds but also for nap/sleep help.

The blurb on amazon suggests its focus is on stating good napping/routines early on (8-10) weeks.

Anyone read and/or followed this starting after those early weeks? Any success with naps/sleeping through/weaning off BF while weaning into solids?

I thinkn is the 4 months sleep regression as wee had that too, plus first coughs and colds. We're just thinking ahead to moving her into own room/cot and possibly moving towards not feeding/rocking to sleep.

Anyone got a view on this book?

Personally if you are bfing I would give this book a huge swerve. ASW is slightly controversial and that's my opinion, not one of MN just in case her lawyers are reading this.

Have a read of this thread and see what you think.

Is there a particular issue you are having? If you post more we might be able to sort it for you Smile

If you do want a book can I suggest a couple that are evidence based and not just one woman's opinion? Smile. Try the no cry sleep solution by Elizabeth Pantley and Sound Sleep.

If introducing solids is an issue for you have you read so how do we get started with solids and the the NHS info?

I personally was horrified by the advice in this book, a lot of which is against NHS advice and even increases SIDS - putting a baby in a separate room from week one, sleeping on the tummy, introducing solids at 16 weeks... And as mentioned before totally antibreastfeeding. I would stay away and put this book on bonfire!

Feeding to sleep can be a huge benefit too grow especially if your baby is tired or ill. If you do want to stop feeding to sleep, you need to look at what you will use instead.

Absolutely rubbish book, would not recommend. She has nothing new to say and her advice about BF is dire IMO.

I followed 'Sensational baby sleep plan' from birth and found it incredible useful, it does have some controversial advice ie babies sleeping on their tummys, putting babies in their own room and gives both breast feeding and formula feeding guidelines. However these were just all options for in certain situations. I followed the basic plan but used my own personal choices too, my baby slept through the night (7pm-7am) at 9 weeks and is still doing so 6 weeks on. My baby sleeps on her back, in our room and is solely breast fed, this plan really worked for us.
