Sleep

Howdo you cope when your previously bad sleeper gets worse!?

DS is 10 months. On a good night he sleeps 3-4 hours at a time. These are rare and I usually ring my mum in excitement! Once, he slept for six hours! On a normal night he wakes 2 hourly.

The last two nights, I've barely got back to bed and he's awake again. Hourly, or less.

I've given pain relief in case it's teething pain. He's eating like a horse these last few days, so maybe a growth spurt.

Anyway, it's just a rant. But the thought of him improving soon was what was getting me through!

sounds just like my 6.5 m DS, although our best ever has been 4 hours. Really struggling to cope now. Think we will have to do some111^ sort of controlled crying soon as we just can't carry on like this!

Sorry, not much help or advice for you, but you are not alone

Nothing productive to add but my 7-month old is the same! Waking up every 45 minutes like clockwork from midnight or so at the moment and taking ages to lull back to sleep each time. We've just booked

Whoops, posted too soon...

We've just booked a sleep consultant to give us a sleep plan for him, as in this sleep deprived fog I can't work out how best to improve things!

Cranial osteopathy! I'm a bit evangelical about it, but it has transformed our lives. DS has gone from being up every hour to waking once after 2 treatments.

Sounds like DS, 13 months. HV has advised gradual retreat, we are trying the no-cry sleep solution but for the moment there is a lot of crying and a lot less sleep than before...

Thanks for the sympathy.

I'm not doing any sleep training. he is managing one long nap per day now, which is a great improvement. It was just 20 minutes here and there for months.

He'll sleep eventually.

Judy, we're almost exactly the same except DD is 8mo.

I am currently in a sleep deprived fog.

My HV said to me 'oh when she gets to 1 we'll do CC'. Um...no!

I keep telling myself she won't be doing this at 21

Oh, will your HV be coming round to do it!? How helpful!

How long are you waiting until you go in to see him? We had much more success when we let him grizzle for a few minutes and listen to see what happened next. By charging in we were fully waking him up and making things worse.

There is a 9 month sleep regression which nearly killed me as DS went from bad to so-bad-i-thought-i-would-die. But then when he came out the other side of it he slept better. So it was kind of worth it.

OP, my DS became an evil sleepless gremlin at 9-10 months. It will pass. Eventually. Hang on there.

Ah, he's always been sleepless though. But such a sweet and happy boy in the daytime! He obviously doesn't need the sleep like I do.

Thanks for the sympathy!
