Co-sleeping - what does it mean?

Curious after a few threads recently.

I always though co-sleeping was when you slept int he same bed. Yet on some threads it is used to describe simply sleeping in the same room.

So which is it?

To me it means sleeping in the same bed.

proper meaning according to who?

Thanks.

I also use it to mean sharing a bed too. But as others consider it same room I was getting confused!

Does it depend on age?

If parents and child, I take it to mean in the same bed.

If two children, then I take it to mean in the same room (although ds's are in ds2's cotbed again tonight!)

Either...to me it just means nearby, either in same bed, adjacent cot/bed, same room...any really. The point is that they are with you, not away in their own room.
