Hi all
Sorry this topic has probably been posted a million times before!
6 week old DD2. I introduced the dummy a few weeks ago.
Night time - she goes down at 7 after final feed. Doesn't need dummy.
Day time, (appreciate it's still early days but...) I struggle to settle her for all naps, unless we are out and about. She cries, I leave her to cry for a bit then I eventually give her the dummy, then it falls out, then she cries, repeat I put it back, repeat about 20 times!! Argh!Eventually I often get her to sleep by singing to her or rocking her to sleep or rubbing her forehead. When she is fast asleep the dummy falls out finally.
I don't have a problem with using a dummy but I do have a problem having to put the dummy back in over and over and my fear is that eventually she will want it at night too.
Am I worrying over nothing? Any pearls of wisdom? Is this reinserting the dummy over and over just normal behaviour? Should I curb this now and just leave her to cry when I put her down for a nap to avoid creating a rod for my own back or am I over analysing this?!
I don't recall thus problem with DD1 I was pretty good at taking the dummy out before she fell asleep (a la Gina or Baby Whisperer can't remember which). Thus baby cries and cries if I do this!
Thanks!!
