My first ds will be 5 weeks old tomorrow, I didn't want to cosleep but I am as this was the only way I could get any sleep as he hates the mosses basket.
I'm starting to worry I've created/creating a rod for my own back, I though after a couple of weeks it would be fine and he'd be in the basket....he's not, he's still with me.
Tbh I'm now in that frame if mind that a night's sleep is better than none so haven't tried him for about a week, it's difficult because he also won't sleep in it during the day so basically I am always either carrying him round or trapped on the sofa while he sleeps.
I don't know what tactic to take next, he gets colicy at ten pm every night like clockwork, should I be trying to get him a routine for bed now? If I should what? Bath, boob, bed???
I love my son but I'm worried about him being in with me and being too clingy. Argh advice/ support would be great as I feel like a clueless first timer!

The term I've seen on here for what you're describing is 'Velcro baby'. Smile

He's far too small for you to be doing anything to change his behaviours - he won't be able to understand the enforced separation and get distressed. Some babies are just that way. My DS had a touch of Velcro-babyitis (I suspect most do after being inside you for 9 months!) but as he got bigger and more interested in exploring things around him he got easier to put down.

If co-sleeping makes you nervous because of the safety aspect, just Google 'safe co-sleeping' and have a look on threads further down the sleep forum list. I'm pretty sure there have been a couple of threads recently on safe co-sleeping.

PS I don't think a bath-boob-bed routine would hurt. I don't think it's ever too early to start a gentle bedtime routine.

Haha Velcro baby describes him perfectly!! I know he's still so tiny just didn't know if I was doing something wrong and should be trying to get him more independent :$
