Help! Why is it getting so much worse?

Help needed please before I go bonkers!
7.5 month baby slept beautifully until 4 months. Then hit regression and started waking earlier and earlier for first night feed and often adding second. This seemed to even out at about 6.5 months and we were back to one night feed about 4am then straight back to sleep until 7am. Had given up on the idea of him ever sleeping through but one feed was fine.
BUT
In the last two weeks he has started waking earlier again, feeding for much longer and refusing to go back to sleep for 1-2 hours. The only way he will go back is if he is in bed with us with a nipple in his mouth to chew on (ouch) remove the nipple and cue hysterical crying and start all over again. This is happening from about 2am and I just don't really sleep from this point on. Feel like I am going mad. Anyone got any advice? I'm considering giving him a bottle when he wakes up so at least he won't have the nipple to chomp on for hours. He also has dream feed at 11pm so I'm not even sure he is hungry even though he seems to feed non stop most of the night.
Any ideas before I go mad?

Poor you! I totally sympathise!
My DS also got steadily worse (now almost 9 months). See my other posts!
I have no idea why he was almost sleeping through when he was 3 months and why he would demand to be attached to me almost all the time now.
We're doing cc. I hate it but I feel I just can't carry on ignoring the problem.

Don't know the answer, but much sympathy. I have also got a 7.5 mo who is currently awake and has been for 2 hours. After 2 hours trying to put her back down in her nice dark nursery I gave up and am now letting her roll around on the floor in the living room. Maybe if she gets some exercise she'll go back to sleep faster.

I know it's an obvious question but could he be teething? DD1 suffered with each tooth and sleep always went haywire. I'd get to breaking point (at about 2 weeks in) wondering what the hell was going on and then a tooth would appear! We'd have a calm month and it would all start again for the next tooth!

EMS23, hello, sorry you're also up at this ungodly hour! If they are teething, would they cry and seem unhappy? DD has no teeth yet, but only cries if I try to put her back in the cot. Apparently neither I nor DH got any teeth until we were a year old, so I wasn't expecting DD to get any for a while yet.

Tool DD1 was always her usual sunny self apart from at night, when teething, which is why I never cotton to it until the tooth actually appears!
The only other indicator we ever had was a slight reduction in appetite for solid foods once she was on them.

Was in sleep, chat or aibu about a cosleeping baby who had taken to only sleeping with nipple in mouth. I think I asked about a dummy? Does that help. I can't search on phone.

Interestingly I replied to your post during a night feed and had no memory of doing so.
