Sleep

18.5week old, feeding more and sleeping less at night

Dd2 was doing 6 hourly at night but since about 11 weeks has been doing less and more recently been doing about 2-3 at night.

This I don't mind really, it's all the fidgeting that she does. Hunger? Growth spurt? Wind? Bad tummy? Just not tired?

She doesn't cry at all. Just like my first dd 23m she is so content. I only tell she's hungry by the above signs and rooting.

Other than a constant growth spurt I really don't know why she hasn't been sleeping as well these past few weeks. Last night she woke lots and fed about 4 times.

She usually falls asleep between 6-7 then wakes an hour later for a feed, then goes until about 11/12 then 4 ten 6-7. But recently is all over he place.

Hmmmmm

Four month sleep regression and a cold. If you're breastfeeding, a bit of expressed milk in her nose can help clear it in no time. She's done brilliantly so far, this is just normal baby time Wink

Yeah breast feeding, she's a gem to feed luckily just like dd1 was until 13.5m.

She has gained weight faster that dd1 too who was born bigger than her. So she is a hungry baby but very content. Just a fidget bum in the night at the minute hence major panda eye mama lolSad

Did a bit better last night but she's very bunged up and also teething I think. Fed at 10:30,12:30,4:30.. But was stirring then until about 6:00.... Then when she did stop fidgeting and snorting in her sleep. ( still is now) dd woke up!

These three of us in our room as dd1 is in her room. It does get stuffy so think I might get a de-humidifier plug in to help.

I'm so tired today!!Sad

She did 730-1130, 230, 4:00. I am so tired as its all gone pear shaped the last two weeks really. She doesn't even wake up for feeds. She doesn't cry. Just fidgets and fidgets... At he 4am feed I just thought how can you be hungry! But I know breast milk is digested faster.

It's just sleep deprived mummy talking. Lol

It sounds Barmy but I can't remember what dd1 did at this stage.. She was bf too. Hungry baby too and born heavier. But dd2 was born lighter, putting weight on faster and hungry baby!

Some times she fidgets like its her tummy aching, so who knows.

All I know is I'm so tired lately!

Sounds like the 19week wonder week (think its around then).

The wonder week book charts developmental growth spurts which is usually learning some big new skill which affects the baby's sleep for a few days. So not necessarily hungry, just restless and can't switch their brain off. A bit like when you're really busy at work or have lots on your to-do list etc.

Usually they sleep better when they come out the other side. The book is really good and quite reassuring in that it advises lots of little things they will do at each wonder week which makes you certain that's what it is and therefore should pass again soon....hopefully!
