My son has always had issues with sleep and been difficult to settle at night but it is getting to the point where he is still awake at nine o' clock and coming down downstairs to tell us he is not tired and can't go to sleep because he's thirsty or hungry or needs another cuddle etc etc. He is usually marched back up to bed and tucked straight back in but it now beyond a joke. He has just started full days in Reception and he is so tired that we are having tears and tantrums by 4 o'clock and he is just inconsolable because he can't cope. Anyone else been in the same situation or have any ideas?

yes we have had same and part of our solution was to go on massive massive walks at the weekends, and make the kids go on the trampoline etc after school, basically knacker them out, they fall into bed and the cycle is broken

it wasnt really that easy but it was the only thing that worked, and over time the cycle really does get broken

and we tried everythign else

good luck
