When did your DC move from 2 naps to 1?

I'm wondering whether my 14mo DD is ready to move to 1 nap a day...She will have 2 naps of 1 hour 20 mins ONLY if she wakes up early, ie 6-6.30am.
She can cope without the 2nd nap after lunch if she's had a full morning nap - this is what makes me think she might be ok moving to one late-morning/lunchtime nap (although I have no idea what time this should be at!)

Please tell me how you made the transition!

I think DD was around 1.. I think, amazing how quickly you forget the little details! She used to have an hour at around 10.30am, and another hour or two at 1.30pm. She still has the afternoon nap now at 26mo, sleeping until around 3pm and then going to bed at 8pm.

No idea how I made the transition to one nap, it wasn't done on purpose.. I think we just had a busy week and weren't home for her to have her morning nap, so it just kind of phased out when I saw she was fine without it.

Follow her lead, if she is visibly tired and sleeping for decent amounts of time at each nap, then continue as you are for now. If she doesn't look tired, or starts fighting it.. keep her awake and see how you get on :)

Thanks. My other problem is that she won't sleep in the pram, so if I move her to one nap we will need to be home each time...gah how does my life revolve around her sleeping?! Blush
Maybe she would sleep in the pram though if sufficiently tired? Confused

I'm sure you won't be tied to the house forever Holly if your dd is anything like mine.

A few weeks ago she was having a two hour afternoon nap, but only in her cot. So I was stuck in the house every afternoon. But now she's all changed and won't nap in her cot so sleeps in her buggy instead.

She's 16 months by the way.

With both DDs we switched at around 12 months. It was pretty easy really, with DD2 she was so tired she was practically falling asleep in her high chair after lunch so it was easy to just whip her up to her cot! We do have lunch earlier these days though, about 12, and she sleeps straight after.

My DD is 1 & we are just in process of moving to 1 nap. She used to have about an hour in the morning and the afternoon (about 10ish and then 2ish) but I was noticing she was harder and harder to settle for them and if she had a nap in the morning, I struggled to get her to settle in the afternoon, but she was clearly a bit tired. So we are trying one later in the morning (about 11) and then I let her have a wee cat nap of 30 mins about 4pm if we are out and about in the pram

DS has just turned 11 mos and is dropping his morning nap I think - it was only ever 30 -40 minutes but now he won't go down at all. He then has about an hour and a half in the afternoon. Despite his rubbish day sleep he does quite well at night. DD on the other hand had two hours morning and afternoon until the age of about 16 months and was a crap night sleeper. Conclusion - they are all completely different!

Since 11 months-ish I've been limiting ds's morning nap to 30/45 minutes. Now at 13.5 months sometimes he has a short morning nap, but often I just keep him up til lunch time now and he has 1 afternoon nap.

10 months for both my DDs. DD1 dropped sleep altogether at 19 months and DD2 at 17 months.

I just came on to start this thread! DD is nearly 11 months and her naps have gone crap this week. She usually has a good 1.5 hours in the morning and the same after lunch. This week she has taken her a.m nap fine then not gone back down for her afternoon sleep at all or taken ages and as a consequence been overtired and grotty all afternoon. Should I try and keep her up all morning tomorrow and aim for a really long sleep straight after an extremely early lunch (11.30ish) ? sorry for the hijack Smile
