DS is struggling to sleep past 6 am at the moment. I miss lie-ins!

Hello
My 3 yr and 5 yr old both get up at 6 am. They are driving me positively berserk stomping around like a herd of elephant screeching like banshees.

Oh god yes! There is nothing quiet about him either. He seems to think we are in another county when he talks!

My 3 year old wakes at about 7.30 but the 1 year old is up at 6.

MissTinaTeaspoon Thu 30-Jun-11 08:03:46

My 3yo wakes up between 6:30 and 7 but she's 'trained' to only come in to us when her lamp comes on at 7 using a timer switch smile

We have a special clock which brings a sun up at 7 am but he has stopped taking any notice of it!

TrinIsASadSpottyFatRhino Thu 30-Jun-11 08:07:56

my just four year old and my 6 year old can wake anytime between 5 and 7

they share a room and they know on punishment of torture not to disturb us till the sun comes up (on their gro clock)

eversoslightlytired Thu 30-Jun-11 08:08:58

Ooh x post! We have the same clock

Both mine 3 and 6 get up about 6am or 6.30am and always have, i now cannot lie in past 7am as im now programmed to wake. Also it dose not matter what time they go to bed.

4yo DS wakes at 6am. Today he was hitting me on the head with his pants angry. He wakes up 2yo DS too sad.

The gro-clock never worked for him, bribery hasn't worked either. Black out blinds + curtains don't make any difference. He has a long day at nursery so he his tired but I am pinning all my hopes on school making him more tired in September. Drives me up the bloody wall.

SugarBugger Thu 30-Jun-11 08:16:19

Sometime between 6 - 7am. We've just bought one of those clocks too, but I still end up in their bedroom at 6.45am laying down the law!

eversoslightlytired Thu 30-Jun-11 08:16:37

Meglet are you sure you don't have my son! Exactly the same thing here. Black out curtains, bribery, gro clock - Nothing works!

4yo wakes between 6 and 7
6.40 today.
TBH i consider anything after 6am reasonable, if not desirable. I think they have weakened my resolve after years of properly early waking grin.

TrinIsASadSpottyFatRhino Thu 30-Jun-11 09:54:56

just out of interest

what do you mean it hasn't worked?

serous question

HettyAmaretti Thu 30-Jun-11 09:57:14

Until between 6 & 7 which is plenty early enough for me.

Have you tried / looked into wake to sleep?

eversoslightlytired Thu 30-Jun-11 11:01:43

He used to pay attention to the sun an moon on the clock. We started well with the sun coming up at half 7. Then we moved it back to quarter past because he stopped waiting and have since moved it back to 7 am. All we get is "the sun's taking a long time" shouted at the top of his voice! He just won't wait!

MarioandLuigi Thu 30-Jun-11 11:03:52

4.15am this morning

Though he does have ASD and finds staying asleep difficult. I on the other hand feel like I could sleep for a week.

Lotkinsgonecurly Thu 30-Jun-11 11:06:39

This is my world. dd has woken between 5 and 6 am since she was born. Her favourite time is 5.05 am. She has to play in her bedroom, get dressed, read etc. Until I get up at 7 am. Even though I am awake, I refuse to get up earlier. She's fine pottering about. I manage to dose over this time...sort of.

Lotkinsgonecurly Thu 30-Jun-11 11:06:52

She's 4.

Conflugenglugen Thu 30-Jun-11 11:12:27

My 4 yo gets up between 5.30 and 6 am. In spite of blackout curtains. Groclock stopped working and so we sold it ...

Meglet Thu 30-Jun-11 14:44:24

everso DS's little gem was the day he came into my room at stupid o'clock and loudly whispered at me "Mummy I am _not_ going to wake you up. I will play in my room instead".

I was angry and trying to snuggle under my duvet.

The days they sleep until 7:30 (twice this year) are bliss. I am so much calmer and more organised. They even get pancakes for staying in bed, that worked a handful of times.

TrinIsASadSpottyFatRhino Thu 30-Jun-11 15:30:33

oh ok I get it everso
sorry

gecko and dd2 did the same thing
gecko even worked out how to change the time the sun came up

they just lost stuff and had punishments till they learnt what I was expecting of them

Fifis25StottieCakes Thu 30-Jun-11 15:32:58
