Cot to bed-13mths too young

My ds is going through a real hating of his cot at mo and being ebf he has been used to co-sleeping in the past. He tends to settle better in a bed. He has a very low bed in his room with a safety rail. Is he too young at the mo to be moved to his own bed? I know my dd was nearer two when she did.

Way too young IMO. Mother of 3. Earliest mine went to a bed was 2.5 years old.

We moved to cot bed at 17 months with no problems - no additional side either - to keep him in. You know your child. We did it for the same reason - just stood shaking the bars and screaming.

Just moved to single bed with bed guard at 18 months with no problems at all. Dd much happier in a bed and easier to settle her. Would have probably moved her at 13 months - only slight worry would have been that bed guard said to use from 18 months, if you already have a bed with a rail I can't see that would be a problem.

My instinct is it is too young but just cant settle him in cot, don't like cc, so maybe co-sleep is way forward.

At about 16 months we took one side of the cot and dropped the mattress to lowest level. DD could climb in and out herself and was much happier that way. She wasn't a big mover in her sleep though, and only ever fell out once (and carried on sleeping!)

we did 19mo with DS and thought that was young... I now have 14mo DT's and cannot imagine it being safe... but they are so different from DS at their age. He understood everything, had some words, these two would just go "wahey" and launch themselves out and promptly throw themselves down the stairs...

What about a mattress on the floor, and baby-safe the stairs etc

Put him in a cot, instantly awake! Lay him on bed mattress-does not stir!

If it helps I have 2 DC....

DD (now 4) was moved into a toddler bed at 1 year Shock ... it seemed far too early to us, but somehow she had worked out how to drop the side of the cot down and we were regularly finding it down and it was just scary really! We made sure she would get on and off the sofa safely, but she was fine - think it took her a week to even notice she COULD get out of bed! Grin

DS is now 14months and currently still in the cot (the same cot infact, so was definitely DD dropping the side - its not happened yet this time!) He will probably go into her bed in a month or two, she's getting a new bed and he is getting safely off the sofa now too :)

Bed is literally not even foot off floor, could put quilt at side and gate at door????

DD never fell out of the bed either... until she hit about 2.5 and started getting more vivid dreams! The first night I left her cot matress on the floor next to her, it was fine :)
