5 wk cld Dd cries when put down, day or night.

Any advice much appreciated.

My 5 wk old Dd cries if she is not being held, whether this is putting her in co-sleeping cot, moses basket, bed next to me, vibrating chair, pushchair etc.

Up until now I've been hoping she'll simply grow out of it, but after 5 weeks of sleeping upright holding her and trying to do everything either one handed or with her in a sling it is getting too much.

I also have a 4 yr old Dd and a 3 yr old Ds to take care of and am starting to find the lack of sleep and freedom to get on with things is getting to me.

So far I've tried;

Warming up cot before putting her in.

Wrapping my pillow case around her mattress so it smells of me.

Propping up one end of cot.

White noise.

Music.

Lying right next to her, almost in her cot or with her in bed with me.

None of it works, she just screams until she is picked up, when she immediately stops!

Please help!

I am thinking silent reflux or that she can't keep herself warm enough, as a rule of thumb i dress baby in 1 more layer than i am wearing but if it is chilly then i would add another layer and try a thin hat even indoors.

Do you swaddle her?

I hadn't heard of silent reflux, because she isn't bringing anything up it never occurred to me, will have a google about it, thank you.

I've tried swaddling in a normal blanket, but not a swaddling blanket, do you think that could make a difference?

A friend suggested I try cranial osteopathy, does anyone have any experience of this?

I was about to suggest cranial osteopathy.

DD2 was very similar - took her to an osteo at 7 weeks out of sheer desperation.

Ostea said her muscles and diaghram seemed tight (asked whether she could bend or posset - answer was no, DD2 held herself rigid most of the time) so she did some gentle massage. DD2 blissed out, and at the end, I could sit her upright and she possetted!

AFter that she was a normal baby in as much as when she did cry or get upset, I could comfort her. Before osteo, she just screamed.

Worth a shot I'd say.

Thanks, to be honest it's reached the stage anything's worth a try so long as it doesn't have a negative effect.

Hi hmm osteopath is systematically recommended over here so I took DS last week. No real success stories as he's not a particularly difficult baby (yet) but he really enjoyed the massage so I'd say go for it, it can't hurt.
