I ski-ed at half term for the 3rd cosecutive year. I'm 45. DH is 48 and also learned two years ago.
A friend who was already a skier took up snowboarding a few years ago in his mid 40s.
Mind you, it's taken over a week for my hips to feel normal again.

I'm 37 and intend to be riding as long as there's life in me... I learned when I was 18, glad I did as prob wouldn't have the balls to do it now!

DH is 40 this year and still an avid off-piste boarder. I prefer the apres-ski!

Also pushing 40 and still riding.

Have absolutely no intention of giving up and I am hoping that we'll be able to go away more often as the DCs get older. In the meantime, we are making do with a week away each year and as much dome riding as we can fit in

good on her...get the plaster of paris ready,i nearly broke my legs when i tried it and got 10 out of 10 for a backward flip when out of control on a red run!!!!!!!!

Report
madwomanintheattic · 12/09/2009 05:43

did that once going backwards over an unexpected ridge... fortunately no damage, although everyone who saw it was convinced i was badly injured as neither i nor the girl who stopped to help me up were moving... but we were totally incapacitated with laughter, nothing else

although this year, i've taken up ice hockey... the chances of me making it to the end of the ski season are fairly remote, i fear...

DC on a drag on skis, whilst you're on a board.. They'll be flying ahead of you, even at 4, believe me. I've been boarding for...13yrs... DP a little more. We have 2 ds 8 & 5. Really wanted them to learn to ski first (It's easier,4 edges rather than 2), balance is easier also. DS1 last season aged 7 we dropped on a board for 1 day... he was flying, got it straight away, was such a natural and very bloody annoying. There was no fear.

We had a guest who started skiing at 70 and switched to boarding at 76. Absolute star. Also cycled the 15 miles to our office to drop in his booking form and deposit cheque a few years ago.

My Mum skis considerably more each winter at 63 than I do at 36 - most unfair!

It'll be me cos I'm planning to learn to snowboard this Xmas age 43. God i can't believe i wrote that down.

I always wanted to try when i was younger but never went back near the slopes after damaging my knee learning to ski when i was 16. But now my 6yo (and maybe my 3yo) will be out there with DH and i don't want to be left out. I'm sure they will enjoy seeing me going tits over arse while i'm learning!

Am saving up for the padded bum protector and wrist guards now!

Wish me luck!
