i woudl love to go skiing february half term - 08. kids will be 4 and 6. they are bad on planes - fidgety, not good travellers, but a couple of hour fliht would be fine. however a long coach transfer would make the whole thing hell. anyone know of any european ski resorts where the journey time from airport to resort is minimal?? we are all beginners..

We are going to kaprun in march, less than an hour, I think from airport. With ski esprit. Our son will be 4 and its his first time. They have a great website and will offer advice if you phone too.

Morzine gets my vote - just 40mins from Geneva and not too hilly/mountainous. Morzine is also good for kids/beginners and not too expensive.

also flight to geneva is very quick.

I'd go for Morzine for beginners rather than Chamonix or Deux Alpes too

And it's quite pretty too which is a bonus for people who might not want to ski 24/7

Another vote for Les Gets, great skiing for beginners, you can get the train from London in the morning to Geneva and be there for tea time. Ski Famille were great last year and do the transfer from Geneva as part of the package.

If you fly to more provincial airports like Innsbruck, Champery or Sion it opens up many more resorts such as Seefeld (very pretty and lots to do other than ski) about 45 minute transfer from Innsbruck.

If you opt for Morzine, see details of our luxury and value for money chalet accommodation deals on www.chaletlesechos.com. Airport transfers to and from Geneva airport are only 1h 15 minutes each way and are inclusive in your holiday package price. We will also help you to book your children's ski lessons, equipment hire and babysitting. Bon Vacance!

I would look for something near to Salzburg( Ryanair, Thomsonfly, Flybe, BA Connect etc... - the flight there is only 2 hours max and there are loads of resorts within 45 minutes.

We had a good hol in Morzine last year, and would love to go again - EXCEPT that it is low and if the snow conditions are poor the runs to the village are shut. Also the quesue to get up n the telecabine in the morning make the ski school very tedious - the DC did not enjoy the lessons there, whereas in other resorts with more accessible skiing they have been okay wioth ski school
