I'm from downunder and apart from NZ/Oz/Canada, have only been to St Anton (loved it) and the sella rondo in Italy, we're looking for more recommendations of ski locations + hotels (and operators, although don't mind booking it all myself) to try.

My DH snowboards, beginner but with confidence to do intermediate and I am an intermediate skier. Our DS will be 6-7mths when we plan to go.

Looking for quaint village, i guess a high altitude to combat potentially warm winter, good nursery facilitie, accom close to ski lift or ski in/out. Also don;t mind if it's a hidden local gem so to speak. I remember driving through austria with a friend and came around a bend, in the middle of nowhere this massive ski area with a ski bridge across the road. was very low key and looked fab, but can't remember where or what it was called!

TIA

Been to Kaprun/Zell many yeras ago and tbh the snow is not very reliable and the glacier gets overcrowded. How about Saas Fee in Switzerland (Hotel Alphubel has a free creche with zany, if unsophisticated, evening entertainment) , good for intermediates, high altitude and attracts snowboarders of beginner/intermediate standard without the feeling intimidating iyswim. Similar size of resort to St Anton if not as ext4enisve piste-wise.

I can recommend these people - we went there last year and had a lovely time. Very nice house - lovely food - just an all round relaxed low key holiday. here

They don't have children but that are well-behaved child friendly, if you see what I mean and the family room is very nice.

Oh whoops, sorry, didn't notice you needed a nursery. My idea probably won't work then, sorry!

we have been with www.skibeat.co.uk - good creche facilities and all round quite good with children (dd was 13 months when we went). Only do france though.
