How do you manage with a 2yr old?

We're looking for flights from Scotland, and childcare. Two adults and a 2yr old. Ideally not France or at least not the usual 3hr transfer resorts in France.

The problem is we can't find self-catering near childcare that isn't scummy/likely to be full of big loud groups sleeping 6 to a room.
So it's a hotel with 7:30 dinner and the option of 5:30 kids tea. How can we make this work? Would you try to keep your 2yr old up till adult dinner? Would the other guests hate us? Or would you feed him kids tea then adults take it in turns to eat/babysit? Any other suggestions?

Since DS was born we've skied in Morzine. Only an hour from Geneva. Very family friendly. We've booked low cost flights and booked apartments seperately. By far the nicest accommodation I've ever stayed in ski resorts and very good value. Self catering meant that we could eat in or out when we wanted. DS went to the local nursery (La Garderie l'outa) which was really lovely.
I hate the early kids tea thing. This season DS is skiing so we are going with snowbizz as they had good combined childcare and lessons, similar to what you get in family chalets but we can still all eat together smile

Go to Italy.. They positively encourage small children to eat with the adults!

We've gone with esprit who have a listening service in the chalet. Not ideal as if rather eat together but needing Scottish flights and nursery does limit us.
When it's time for ski school well look at hotels in Austria where we can all eat at 6ish.

Since having kids we've always booked with Family Ski Company.

Their childcare is faultless, kids have dinner at about 6pm and adults at about 8pm. The chalets are small enough to put the kids to bed and head downstairs with no worries.

Ardent is only 1 1/2 hours from Geneva and the skiing there is great.

We went to Morzine last season, brilliant with families, we used a nanny service out there for our then 2 year old and 4 year old girls. It would be so easy to go back there for this winter but looking for other places that anyone could recommend?

Have you looked at Ski-2 in Champoluc in Italy (Monterosa ski area)? We went with Esprit to Gressony in the same ski area last year but you obviously know their format.

We haven't stayed with them but we know people who have and have gone back again. Their children were older though.

We love Morzine too for family ski holidays. This year we are going to Puy St Vincent - because we wanted a change and their childcare and ski school looks the best for our 3 yo.
