Despite having a million jobs to do I am being tempted in by early offers. Am I mad?!

I think booking early is the way to go if:
a) you are sure you want to go to the place
b)you are thinking of going in a busy week (eg feb half term)
c) you are a slightly unusual family (ie more than 2 kids)

We have booked because the discount makes booking worthwhile, and we know when and where we want to go. If it was just me and husband I would probably wait to see where the snow is, but kids need a bit more forethought than that in my experience.

We've booked. Morzine Dec 2012!! Only because we are a very large group (6 families) and want to have exclusive use of a chalet though.

Trouble with booking early is you start to get obsessed early as well. As in, already looking at ski schools etc. Madness!

Yep, already booked for Easter 2013 as DS & I are happy to return to the same resort and got offered an absolutely insane deal by the company when they opened their early bird booking.
Did have half term 2013 sorted but the group organiser pulled the trip so now find myself wasting my lunch breaks nosing around for something interesting!

Well we DIY our trips, so have booked the flights for half term as they're so much cheaper at this stage. We know where we're flying to, and when we're going so no need to delay. Just got to confirm (several families involved) which accommodation to go for - same resort as last year.

Booked flights and put a small deposit down on hotel for Feb 2013 half term. My DH doesn't know about any of this as he doesn't like flying. I'll break it to him in October, after all thoughts of our summer holiday are over. If he really objects then the flights are changeable.

All I have to do now is hide all the ski clothes I've been secretly buying. Then once it's out in the open I'll ask for boots for Christmas...

We booked almost as soon as we got back (in March) with Family Ski Company to Les Coches and got a really good deal - definately recommend booking early - we have been with FSC 4 times now and have always had an excellent time - consistently good Smile, also the flights were cheaper too which was a double bonus!

I need ideas of Companies to go with. Dd is now 11 and after 11 years of Esprit we need an alternative.

We booked quite a while back. Morzine over new year. DSs ask more about how long to skiing than about upcoming summer hols!

Am so tempted to book now we are back from summer hols Grin but as both dc are goign on school ski trips this year, doens't leave much leeway for us to go as a family.

Hi Singlevillagemum - please could you let me have the name of the company that offered you such a good deal for Easter and resort ?
We are booked for half term but still need to book tunnel ( was waiting for DS age 12 to get his timetable to work out what lessons he will miss if we leave on the Friday).
After 10 years of lovely catered chalets out of school hols in the French Alps we are self catering for the first time in Feb half term. Off to a small village in Austria that supposedly should not be too busy at half term - we will wait and see.

Booked La Tania for Easter last night, first ski holiday ( where he will actually ski) for DS who will have just turned 5. Both excited and scared at the prospect of him on skis!

I am starting to think about booking for January but we have a baby this time as well as our 5 year old. He did amazingly well in Morzine at 3.5 so want to keep it up with him. Heard pros and cons about Mark Warner, they are expensive for starters.

I am sitting here with a big grin across my face as I've just booked a cheeky week in January just for me Smile Haven't been for ages, so thought why not? Only Bulgaria but cheap as chips (i expect the food will be 50% chips!).

Off for a power walk now, to try and get fit in 14 weeks Hmm

Book now. Peisey in Late Jan with esprit... I shall wave pombears at you if you are there too. Or at least I shall if pom bears are dairy free, if not then it'll be mini party rings.

Booked now, I should say. I'm not telling you all to book now, that would be rude.

IwishIcould sorry for late response, been trying to wean self of MN addiction!
Used Ski Collection for self-catering, Easter prices are very very good and the included Eurotunnel flexi-pass makes life so easy. We use one of the small high resorts - La Joue da Loop but they have a lot of different choices.
Have decided to miss out on Feb half term now but have booked a short new year break to try out La Bresse, no idea if it will work with snow cover, but the gite was so cheap and they were doing £26 ferry crossings so even if it's a bust I won't be too bothered.

Olivermoliver - we went to la Tania last year it was fantastic, I couldn't recommend new generation ski school highly enough. (For all age ranges)

We have just booked to go back to Whistler for two weeks at Easter. We got a great early booking special price if we booked by November 15th. I have always thought it was a bit early to book for Easter however from previous experience the snow has always been excellent here in March and April.

We have a 6 and 3 year old. We find the standard of accommodation and ski tuition outstanding. We have a two bedroom self catering apartment at First Tracks in Creekside - the children's ski school also leaves from here which is why we prefer staying here.

Our 3 year old will learn to ski this coming spring - previously we had put her in to the Whistler Blackcomb Creche and on other days we had a babysitter.

We booked with a company called Cold Comforts they have an office in Whistler - www.cold-comforts.com. They have been very helpful in arranging the children's lessons and giving us local advise on arrangements for creche, suitable family friendly accommodation etc. It was great to know that everything had been arranged prior to our arrival so we did not have a chaotic start on day one. I have always dealt with a girl called Sophie who lives in Whistler at Cold Comforts she also has an infant so it gives me alot more confidence with her advise and knowledge.

We cannot wait to get back!
