Keeping track of long threads

PrettyCandles · 21/05/2010 15:01

How about an "OP's Posts" button at the top, whcih could extract all the OP's posts on a thread and let you see them all in one go?

Sometimes on a very long thread it is difficult to keep track, especially when there's a lot of repetition from posters, and it would be interesting to be able to be able to pick out just the OP's responses.

Prettycandles

I have thought for a while it would help. Some threads are just far too long to wade through.

Shall we lobby?

Or a way of pinpointing where you got to in a thread you're reading ie page 16 of a 30 page thread.

Meanwhile, you can go to your edit menu at the top of the screen, choose Find (or Find on this page) and type in the OP's name, click next, next, next etc reading as you go.

Yes I do what Jux suggests, with my own posting name so I can find my last post and read from there.

Also I have it set to 100 posts per page, which allows me to skip to the end of a really long thread quickly but also keeps enough posts on a page without having to guess which page I was on last time.

Jux - I do that on Firefox on the laptop (you can use Ctrl-F) but it's no good when I'm on the iPhone...

Jux, for some reason that didn't always work on our old PC. Haven't tried it yet on the new one. But in any case, as RustyBear said, it isn't possible on an iPhone - possibly not on other smartphones either.

I want a search facility that searches all your user names.

Threads I'm On does that, but it would be even better if we could specify how far back it was to look.

You can watch a thread then click where you were up to. This doesn't work on fast moving threads though just long ones

May I remind all lobbyists that promises of bribery tend to hurry things along a bit?

Seriously though, I don't know whether we can do this but will add to Tech's massive intray.

I'm in the middle of making a truly superb rhubarb crumble; but I don't think I'm asking for anything right now, am I?
