Calling those of you who did our pregnancy survey.......

Hello
Those of you who did our pregnancy survey may have noticed that it wasn't the clearest of surveys we've ever done. blush

We're looking at the results and we think there are a few anomalies. hmm

We'd be grateful if those of you who've completed it can give us some clarification as to how you interpreted a coupla the questions:

Specifically Q4 Did you: -

(a) Get drunk before you knew you were pregnant
Yes/No/Don't know
(b) Get drunk whilst you were pregnant, knowing you were pregnant
Yes/No/Don't know
(c) Get pregnant whilst drunk!
Yes/No/Don't know

We think that some people may have read part (a) as:
Did you get drunk (ever in your carefree prechildren life) before you were pregnant?
Rather than:
Did you get drunk whilst you were pregnant before you knew you were pregnant?

There is also a similar doubt on Q6 which was about illegal drugs.

Please can you post on on this thread if that was how you read this on Q4 and Q6.

TIA and again, sorry for confusion blush

hi olivia i read it as did you get drunk when you were pregnant but before you knew
ditto with drugs

Goober Sat 15-Aug-09 22:26:35

It made perfect sense to me.

PrincessToadstool Sat 15-Aug-09 22:26:49

I did not read it as 'did you get drunk ever... but as 'whilst pregnant but before you knew'

ditto for q6

RipMacWinkle Sat 15-Aug-09 22:27:14

I did the survey and read as the second... interpreted as did you get drunk/do drugs whilst you were on the 2ww (to use TTC chat).

4andnotout Sat 15-Aug-09 22:27:53

I read it as
"did you get drunk whilst pregnant but before you know you were pregnant"

not "are you or have you been a lairy lush"

grin

Can we deduce from this then that a HUGE percentage of those who filled it in said 'yes' then?

NonGratisAnusDailyMail Sat 15-Aug-09 22:29:38

I read both as "whilst you were pregnant before you knew you were pregnant".

YanknCock Sat 15-Aug-09 22:29:44

I read it as 'did you get drunk whilst pregnant before you knew you were pregnant' and same for q6.

UndertheBoredwalk Sat 15-Aug-09 22:29:44

Also interpreted it as did you get drunk while pregnant but before you knew.
Made complete sense to me

Fimbo Sat 15-Aug-09 22:29:52

I think 4andnotout has summed my answer up perfectly

StayFrostyDMisaVileRag Sat 15-Aug-09 22:30:04

I read it as did you get drunk while pg, but before you knew.

MyCatIsABiggerBastardThanYours Sat 15-Aug-09 22:30:57

I also read it as 'did you get drunk whilst pregnant but before you knew you were'

Aranea Sat 15-Aug-09 22:32:02

me too. it seemed perfectly clear to me.

poorbuthappy Sat 15-Aug-09 22:32:06

As above...

moaningminniewhingesagain Sat 15-Aug-09 22:32:41

Seems to be a consensus, we all knew what you meant, I thinkgrin

fruitstick Sat 15-Aug-09 22:33:05

I understood it as drunk before you found out that you were pregnant.

Howeeve I don't think it was the best worded survey, as it wasn't clear whether we should tick one or several options for quite a few of the questions (Q3 in particular) blush

NorkilyChallenged Sat 15-Aug-09 22:34:18

Um. Nope, I didn't get it right sad Off to find my dunce's cap...

Whilst pg but before knowing.

Stinkyfeet Sat 15-Aug-09 22:37:13

I also read it as "Did you get drunk whilst you were pregnant before you knew you were pregnant?"

MrsWeasley Sat 15-Aug-09 22:39:14

I read it as "Get drunk before you knew you were pregnant" meaning being pregnant and not knowing it, did you get drunk?

Flamesparrow Sat 15-Aug-09 22:43:00

That bit made sense. It was another bit with yes/no to having done drugs etc (something like "have you never taken illegal drugs" where yes OR no could be the right answer).

Still ashamed that I had to answer C for the drinking question though blush

IdrisTheDragon Sat 15-Aug-09 22:43:15

I took it to mean get drunk whilst pregnant, but not knowing you were.

Possibly lots of us got drunk in very early pregnancy?

TimothyTigerTuppennyTail Sat 15-Aug-09 22:44:47

I answered it as 'being pregnant and not knowing', not 'ever in your life'.

I don't think I'd have answered it if I'd interpreted it the other way.
