Yikes, Christmas? Already?
I think we have a rule that says we don't put the topic online until September to stop the rest of us from feeling / at not planning early.

Will add to Tech's list of things to do after the summer break though. HTH

I need to learn to keep my legs crossed in February, I always end up pregnant and due in December so have to be uber organised. Gah.
And I swear on all that is holy I will be wrapping presents in brown paper. I wont be suckered in by the 3 for 2 in WHSmiths, no matter how nice the paper is!

Ok I have to say I'm already in preparation for xmas 09...

BUT!!! In my defence!!!

Only because I plan to have the scrooge credit crunch xmas to beat all scrooge credit crunch tightwad xmasses and in June I commenced my plan of knitting everyones present from my out of control wool stash

so basically free pressies but I had to start early...

(honest they are all v taste full - fingerless gloves and tea cosies etc, not toilet roll covers or anything!)

so for me and dottydot, dear Olivia, how about a crafters credit crunch make and do xmas pressie planning/support thread?

oooh - Flibberty that's a brilliant idea - I'd love a Christmas Credit Crunch section!!

And can you e-mail me your pattern for fingerless gloves please??! lakinson dot house at ntlworld dot com

I did lovely scarves the year before last and woolly hats for the men, so need something slightly different.

I've seen some chocolate moulds at lakeland that aren't too expensive so thought of making different flavoured chocs and putting in bags with ribbons?

Need more ideas though!

there are lots of patterns for fingerless gloves and mittens on Ravelry.com, I would email to you the ones I've already downloaded but in a fit of pique last week at my slow running computer, dp uninstalled a lot of programmes, one of them was adobe and now I can't open my patterns till I've reinstalled it..... argh!

I also have patterns that I get from charity shops and my dear departed grandma's old collection of Patons Bazaar magazines.

I tried baking and choccing last year but tbh people are too used to thorntons etc and unless people make it themselves they just don't appreciate it.

Hence knitted gifts but only for those who will appreciate them, and more importantly, for those who will know better than to bung em in on a boil wash.

no problem - I'll have a look on Ravelry - do you reckon fingerless gloves are OK for grown ups as well as children? I'm thinking a pair for grandad but they'd be very cute for the kids as well.

I was thinking about making this - can steal ask around for some jars and make labels?

Christmas Crafts/Credit Crunch thread would be GREAT.

I'm going to be making some blackberry liquor and putting it those lovely bottles that have those stoppers in.

I need some more ideas. Simple ones

Flibberty -- may I recommend the PDF-Xchange Viewer? It's a free PDF reader that is much smaller and faster than Acrobat Reader so doesn't slow your PC down nearly so much.

Shall we crafters/makers wait till the xmas area is set up or shall I start a thread in the Arts and Crafts area for xmas 2009 pressie projects now?

When the xmas 2009 section is set up I plan to start a thread on pressies that we have got from ebay/car boots/charity shops, so I can really show off my super scroogieness credit crunching talents.

This year I am soooo excited, after all my years of being careful with money but generous with effort and thought, my friends are looking on me as something as a guru for scrooging

Its taken years but now they all know that I was just ahead of my time

Christmas? Some of us are still waiting for summer to show up!

But I will ask the powers-that-be for you when we officially let the MN tinsel out of the bag...

Well - I guess - folks can always hide it if they can't bear the thought of pudding talk in August right? We'll get it up next week.

I need a christmas cooking thread! I want to make the things I need to now (mincemeat, puddings) bury them at the back of the cupboard and then forget about christmas until November!

But to make these things I need the advice of wise MNers so sorry to all those I piss off
